3 words that dispel right wing "rugged individualism" and their distorted view of the Constitution

Pandemic.

Natural disasters.

Under their view of the Constitution, it's every man and woman for themselves. Government is not in place to protect us in time of need. If you're not set up to deal with the consequences, it's on you. Period. You should have done this, you should have done that.

But pandemics and natural disasters require a government that offers protections and plans for the masses. You cannot isolate an individual from the community at large, because we all exist in conjunction with each other. And that's where the GOP lie falls apart. We can't deal with this individually, because everything we rely on disintegrates in unforeseen emergencies.

Once you take the step to protect the innocent from a pandemic or a natural disaster, you've embarked on a journey that now embraces compassion and progressive politics. In other words, this pandemic pretty much blows their bullshit twist on Constitutional interpretation on its head.

but their rugged individualism is fake anyway. I have a sister who is an RN who got her degree with assistance from a local college. She had help but now that she is there making money she thinks she got there by herself. I am sure there are many more like her.

I had help getting my degree and I want other people to have a bit of help too and have access to pell grants, scholarships and affordable loans. Oops this is way off topic but anyway that Rugged individualism isn't a thing, it's fake. IMHO

The oligarchs want us to strive to be independent. They know that united we stand, divided we fall.

Like so much of their rhetoric, it's based on a lie and the pavlovian response they know is coming.

sense and Fox spreads all that info around and they eat it up. My sister completely lies to herself that she got herself where she is too. It's so annoying.

Unless it affects them directly, they never favor government aid. When it does affect them directly, they change their tune, and are then are kicked out of the club by unaffected conservatives.

embarked on a journey that now embraces compassion and progressive politics.

I don't see any evidence of this except for neighborhood posts of neighbors offering neighbors help for minor things. What I see is still panicked throngs of people hoarding supplies and food at grocery stores with no care for who might need some of those products. It's the uncompassion of everyone that is everywhere right now. It's all me me me.

A government response to pandemic or natural disaster is, ipso facto, socialist in nature. Since it is already ingrained in the system, it cannot - and should not - be tea partied away.

Helping people at their level and where they're at is what matters. People are going without while the me me me crowd is acting like jackasses. A more compassionate response by government isn't gettin the goods for these people in need, and as far as they're concerned they don't see the compassionate help they need.

The dolt in the WH is the cause, I know. But here is an idea, lets let this compassion quickly become tangible for these poor people. There must be a national stockpile of goods like toilet tissue and isopropl alcohol that could be given out to the people. I'm sayin high falutin talk and long range policy shifts aren't making the compassionate outcomes that new to be happening to actual people NOW.
