Tomorrow will be the 11th years to the date, 9-11-01. It was a day of horrific tragedy that changed our country forever. But with all the changes, it won't replace all the sacrifices that those who lost the lives that day. Let's remember those who lost their lives that day, those lost their lives fighting for our great country and those who are still in harm's way. No matter what are political views are, we all need to be one Nation and reflect on this day. God bless them all and God bless the U.S.A.skeewee08

(53,410 posts)Bush lied us into two wars which have killed hundreds of thousands and displaced millions. If our people count, then all people who have been killed should count as the victims of that day.

(13,459 posts)But I hope 9/11 never becomes some kind of patriotic holiday. In retrospect, we sacrificed so much more because of 9/11 than we did during 9/11. To me that's a national shame, and I was as angry and jingoistic as anyone 11 years ago. It is a sad date in so many ways.
reflection
(6,286 posts)was that we really did seem to be united, if only for a few weeks. I remember passing people on the street and there was so much more raw love and empathy passing between us, even though we were strangers. We were all in it together.
I know it was short-lived, but it showed me that it is possible. It's a shame it took such a tragedy to get people to knock down their walls that insulate them from others.
