Rubbed the trump supporters hard today

I gave them all crap about the stimulus.

They were all going on about the stimulus check they will be getting and I kept reminding them that it is socialism.

Then I reminded them it will be taxed as income.

I told them if the really needed to maintain their principles, they could give me their checks.

I needled them all day. At one point they were griping that there will be some that will buy a big screen TV with it. I said, I would be one of them. Probably not but that neither her or there.

There was little hope that they realize the level of their hypocrisy

Just refer to it as The Trump Virus, drop a link or two to the MANY videos (perhaps they can watch this on their government-issued big screen TV?) demonstrating in graphic detail how Trump FUBARed this so badly. Happy to provide them to you if you don't have them.

Watch the frenzy begin!

Be sure they know that the proposal began with the Democrats and Trump glommed onto it as a quick fix for his approval ratings.

But then why are they giving us money we can't spend anywhere?

When the idiot declares Martial Law, we'll have to show our "papers", like in places that Trump dreams about.

He'll put rations on things so we'll fight and steal from each other--and then he'll blame it all on Obama/Hillary/Biden/Pelosi...

8-1/2 months?

I lead a team of 40 or so technicians. I would guess a majority voted for trump based on their demographics. But it is a diverse work force.

When I got this role 7 years ago I told them we are going to be a professional work force and politics will not be discussed in open settings. And am strict about it. Whenever someone would start down the road to it, Democratic or Republican, I would shut it down and ask what that discussion has to do with the job we are paid to accomplish. Now it is never an issue and they team works well together.

After this long working together I have no doubt they have figured out my leaning but not from any outright political statement I have made. I think they are still somewhat confused. I’m a middle class southern white guy. White collar now but started as a technician like them. I fish, hunt drive a truck and even wear boots on occasion!

If they knew I was an active social democrat in my real life they would be shocked.

I just can’t see a good leader allowing a work place to be disrupted by political talk.

It's really asking for trouble allowing political talk at work, especially these days with all the divisiveness. It destroys work efficiency and it's asking for behind the back revenge reactions or even violence.

Any good manager on either side of the fence sets the example just like you are doing........

I’d rather not get more specific but I work perhaps for the largest Private unionized company in Florida. UPS may have more.

One of the first companies in the nation to offer benefits for same sex couples back in the 90’s. The Baptist had kittens!

Loud mouthed, racist, sexist or homophobic employees are shown the door quickly.

So not your typical technicians. My guys, and they all are guys are very dear to me. Although I would never tell them that! A majority have over 25 years with the company and are real close politics be damned. Besides my wife dying I worry about them the next. Some are not that healthy. They are proud of the work they do and realize there is some risk coming to work each day but are also glad to still be working. Obviously, I like my job!

Being from Louisiana I am not much of a round ball fan. But have absolutely loved Cats football the last several seasons. I graduated well over 30 years ago.

Y’all stay safe up there. At least you will always have Bourbon!

regarding becoming infected with this hidden killer where we need to be hyper-conscious 24/7 at work and home.

Just occurred to me how when we're fortunate enough to a part of a really top-notch work team that makes life so rewarding and satisfying, and how fragile that team is to fracture due to losing a team member or from internal friction.

This reminds me in a way of the many hundreds of hours of safety training I went through and how survival depended on every member of the work force being trained and having developed a constant consciousness of the hazards we faced. I see a strong parallel in combating this killer disease.

I'm in self-imposed isolation and started the habit recently of calling my family, neighbors and friends and just talking through some of our dangers and challenges. I think that will be very helpful both for our safety and mental health.

I hope the great team you've described and your personal circle of family and friends stay safe and healthy and comes out of the far end of this intact.

Although I don't now miss the travel, I do miss going to Louisiana from time to time on jobs and the grand pleasure of experiencing the food. Lordy, how that brings back some good memories from the Monroe area and others. Some of the construction teams I worked with were from central Louisiana and they all stayed together in motels and cooked their dinners each night as a team. Good 'ole days!

Thanks for the chat!......... ..........
