My Texas U.S. Representative, Pete Sessions, sent out a newsletter in which he blasts Obama for the recess appointments, explains how the lowered unemployment rate is BAD news, how Obama's policies are full of job killing burdensome regulations, etc., etc. The typical stuff.
But the irony is, he ends the newsletter with advising the readers how to claim federal aid under FEMA and the federal Small Business Administration:
Texas Wildfire Potential Recovery Assistance
If you, your family or friends were impacted by the Texas wildfires, please note that the deadline for Texas wildfire survivors to register for potential recovery assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is tonight at 9pm CT by phone and at midnight online.
Survivors in all 23 counties, who have been designated for Individual Assistance under the major disaster declaration, are urged to register before tonights deadline passes. Additionally, today is the deadline to return applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for low-interest disaster loans for property damage....
(He probably didn't recognize the irony. I wonder if FEMA was that third agency that Perry couldn't remember he wanted to do away with? Just kidding. I know it was the Dept of Energy. Still, other Repubs have stated they think FEMA should be abolished...it's so expensive! The federal government shouldn't be handing out money like that!)

(339 posts)"Don't cut money to Wright-Patt AFB it'll sink local businesses and ruin the economy!" I find their defense of government spending rather astounding because when they talk to someone outside their district it's ALWAYS "government has never created a job", or "we're broke".
