I am generally a pretty laid back person. I don't get mad easily. These days I find myself being brutally blunt to people on social media.

(12,487 posts)If I had to go to work it is a mixture of Trumpers and supporters of an Independent Senator I won't mention.

(5,662 posts)For years I've been political bantering with a repub. cousin. Today, after he sent an email bashing my hubby's profession and another praising DJT, I lost it. Sent back snarky messages saying what I think of all this mess were in. Probably won't hear from him anymore. Don't care. He's hopeless!

(1,638 posts)Looked them in the eye and told them I do not agree and exactly why. Especially those fundie frauds who pretend to be so nice then go all out to support a cruel, amoral thug who runs a criminal operation.
I don't mix it up with them on social media though, avoid and block them right away. Need some peace and tranquility.

(5,463 posts)I think most of us on both sides would like to see Trump attend a major church service on Easter and mingle with everyone there. Wouldn't that be nice?

(3,216 posts)Trump fired the pandemic response team 2 years ago, and that he's basically a freakin murderer.
Sometimes I tell them in person.
Guess I'll get shot before I get the virus.

(7,982 posts)...with an older man who is one of my customers. The gist of the conversation:
Trump is great. What a leader!
Pelosi is the devil.
It's all Pelosi and Schumer's fault.
Obama was slower to respond to H1N1 than glorious leader.
Nobody could have known how bad it was.
Glorious leader shut down the border to the Chinese or it would be much worse and the left ripped him for it.
Cuomo is a grandstanding idiot and the reason NY is in such bad shape.
You get the drift. This is how 40% of the country sees this.
We yelled back and forth for almost 20 minutes on the phone. He is so freaked out that anyone who comes in his house, his maid, his wife from her job at a rest home, must strip in the garage, shower in the bathroom off the garage, and change into new clothes to come in the house.
He is really upset that some people will make up to $15 per hour with the Investor Bailout Bill's unemployment provision. He is also upset that couples who make more than $150,000 will have their $2,400 of "bailout bucks" reduced. The reason he called me in the first place was to tell me he had figured out a way around this clause and he would tell me about it for a 2% kickback. A special favor for us "special people." When I told him that my wife and I barely make 30K a year he was shocked. I am an IT consultant in a poor NorCal county and I give a lot of my services away to poor people and businesses trying to stay alive. My wife is a retired artist living on SS.
This is what we are dealing with people. This is a highly educated lawyer.
We are so fucked...

(63,221 posts)friends with. I just have no tolerance for their right-wing idiocy and lies anymore. I am generally pretty non-confrontational, but I just couldn't hold back. I have decided to stay away for my own sanity going forward.

(82,849 posts)I post where I know they'll see it with undisputed facts. For example, the news today that based on his belief, Trump thinks the country isn't going to need a whole bunch of ventilators. My response is, "You know, I don't think it's a good idea to base our nation's response to this public health crisis on the unsupported belief of a man who's stupid enough to look at the sun during a solar eclipse."

(9,601 posts)I don't talk to them or waste time arguing with their stupid talking points anymore. I hope they enjoy losing their lives and watching their families die while Donald Nero fiddles. I'm sure their last dying breaths will be "but, but her emails".

(296 posts)Hell, I don't even like texts. But have never been really "socially nimble" anyway, (Family tradition) Have been accused of being like my late father; Kind hearted and caring--but pretty blunt, particularly toward willful ignorance and stupidity. (Trumpers) Dad's description at funeral--in part--"DO THE DAMN MATH--THEN THINK FOR YOURSELF" let's just say the dear old man DID NOT SUFFER FOOLS WELL!

(749 posts)during Mardi Gras. She was on her way to Kroger and Lowe's and said she was worried but her husband still thinks it is all fake news. He is out every day. I just sat speechless. I love both of them dearly but they racist and true trumpets. They know I am a democrat but I know if I needed anything they would be the first to help me out.

(9,715 posts)In the past few days 2 Trumpies I know are having serious doubts. A co-worker of my husband finally admitted that hes disillusioned. And a church friend, whose mother is in a nursing home, is really angry at the insinuation that people like her mom should just die to save the economy. Took her a long time to see the light but I think she finally did.
