Masks and gowns being made from MLB jersey fabric

https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-fanatics-provide-masks-in-coronavirus-fight?partnerId=zh-20200327-156906-47943&query_id=1026&bt_ee=603UhZedR3J%2BhcO%2BXHJidjbIVBhwJwm3VZgfN6OhFvHN99UfYWafN5YncPUxLXHy&bt_ts=1585308948159

Fanatics, of Easton, PA, manufactures MLB on-field wear. On Tuesday, they stopped making baseball uniforms and are now making masks and gowns for hospitals...out of Genuine Uniform Fabric.

According to the article, the first three states to receive these items are PA, NY and NJ, and the fabric being used is from the Yankees and Phillies stockpile.

Fanatics and MLB are assuming all costs.

(And in case you were wondering...VF Corporation, who used to own Majestic (who used to supply uniforms to MLB) sold it to Fanatics. When Under Armour got the contract, they hired Fanatics (who owns the old Majestic factory) to make the uniforms. When Under Armour lost the contract because they can’t afford to do it and it went to Nike, Nike is having the undergarment made in its own factory and they hired Fanatics to make the jerseys.)

The cloth in those uniforms is exceptionally tough and able to stand up to the strongest laundry soap they make.

Pinstripe scrubs, anyone?

Seriously, kudos to Fanatics and MLB.

DoD used to have a factory in South Philly that made uniforms and other clothing for the military, the Defense Personal Support Center. I wonder if that factory still exists and if there are still retired seamstresses around?

And as long as we can staff the laundries and delivery trucks, the disposables are not needed. Great!

Shameful that they should have to do this, but since we have a sociopathic gangster running the country, YAAAAAAY!
