(12,712 posts)They always have been. Now, it is just more obvious.
They have a different result from the legal system, as well. We are not supposed to talk about class, but we do have a caste system here and it is just so amazing how surprised people can be when conditions make that equality facade crack open.
We are not in the club that gets all the real perks and privileges of being American. They don't really have to work for it because we do most of that for them and call ourselves free, etc. It is a brilliant system and the media does play its part in various ways.

(4,149 posts)But one would think there would be a bit of decency somewhere with people saying, "Hey, I shouldn't be getting cadillac care when others in this country don't get ANYTHING."
I guess I'm wishing for a miracle, and no, I'm not high right now!

(12,712 posts)I guess certain values and priorities can erode empathy and give a false sense of separation from the reality of human suffering.
I think the miracle you are suggesting would be a realization that everything is interdependent and no one is an island. That applies from this situation to pollution, climate change and the species extinction of our fellow creatures. Capitalism has tended to promote the wearing of blinders in that respect and some folks can't seem to get them to come off.
Everything arises together and separation is conceptual and for some, a convenience, but nothing more.

(2,109 posts)and mid mgmnt people are the one who lifted these bastards to their self-demented realities. While I managed teams back in the day when I worked,my team meetings were filled with words such as ,it is always OUR team, OUR company. And Managers I had under me that didn't agree with this, made their decision. Hint, 90 % of them ended up quitting. And I had plenty of fights with uppers who did not like my approach.
And here is my point,,the 1% who think they have done everything themselves, never had and never will have a soul.
This is why we need to do away with ALL repugs,,, because they are the problem and , never have been in my 60 years of life,,any type of a solution.
Koz, off soap box,,sorry for rant BigDemVoter, this story hit my nerve too.

And they have some other company raising money for them. I don't even know if they are aware of this.
