Trump admin to roll back fuel efficiency standards, weakening efforts to combat climate crisis

Get ready to have to buy more gas each month on top of everything else this will distroy.

Washington (CNN)The Trump administration announced Tuesday it is replacing Obama-era fuel standards with a plan that calls for substantially lower annual increases -- performing what it called "the largest deregulatory initiative of this administration."

But it's a move that will have large environmental consequences and weaken former President Barack Obama's efforts to combat the climate crisis.
The finalized rule, prepared by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation, was unveiled Tuesday.
The rule calls for fuel economy and emission standards to increase by 1.5% annually, rather than the approximately 5% increases in the 2012 rule. According to the rule, the standards will increase to 40.4 miles per gallon by vehicle model year 2026, about 6 miles per gallon fewer than the 2012 rule.

So there is that, too

Car manufacturers have already made deals to keep the emission standards. This president's attempt to destroy those agreements fell flat, as most of his attempts do.

I used to think this president lost more in court than any other prior president because he and most of his political hacks were lazy.

Now we know it is much worse than that.
These people engage in magical thinking where if they just believe it, their alternative facts will come true.

This president does not reside in reality. He is not even reality adjacent, tragically for too many of us, right now.

There are probably a few ass holes that don't care and want their giant gas guzzling truck or Hummer so manufacturers may not do as much to those vehicles.
