A new real populist movement will take place. I don't think people will allow society to just rebuild what was. People who were secure in their employ have suddenly realized what I've known like forever. Most of the working class and the less fortunate are in the same leaky boat. I don't think politicians are going to continue to sell the people the same pipe dreams they have in the past.

(30,613 posts)Yes, I think the scales will fall from the eyes of some of the less-crazy folks at the edge of the Trump Party; that will doom the party's hopes in 2020.
We will also see many employees and employers become much more enthusiastic about remote-working.
Having seen a moment of green, more will be motivated to reduce pollution and global warming.

(13,538 posts)To me, all the money is just bits of data that don't really mean what people think it means.
We should have a system that when something like this happens, no one loses or gains anything. Shut all finance down except access to personal banking accounts. No one gets paid, but we do what it takes to feed everyone and keep the critical services going. The markets go nowhere while we're shut down, I don't pay rent, my landlord doesn't pay his bills and so on.
So people that are raking in the bucks at the top are cut off, but so what? Wouldn't that leave everything in place and make it easier to fire back up?

All the behind the scenes people, too like sanitation workers, water works, utilities, phone company, internet. Postal and delivery services. Park workers. Many more will rise to the top that Ive missed, Im sure.
Trump and Republicans have failed America at every turn. Theyre fiendish approach to every situation wont be forgotten.
