She was amazed "Why are they white?!"
My Mom was not happy.

It's really not a very good movie. Massive. Epic. Grand stage. But other than Heston and Yul Brenner its really overacted and weirdly cast.

Edith Head's costume designs for Victor Mature and Hedy Lamarr in Samson and Delilah (1949), for which she won an Oscar.


Design for Grace Kelly in Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954).

Edith Head (October 28, 1897 – October 24, 1981) was an American costume designer who won a record eight Academy Awards for Best Costume Design between 1949 and 1973.

She did not win the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work in The Ten Commandments, but she was a nominee.

Along with "Ben Hur" and "The Robe" it's a grand example of Ike-era zeitgeist. A Judeo-Christian blessing on white suburbanites.
