The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that thousands of cruise passengers on more than 20 ships may have been exposed to coronavirus between February and March.
The agency published a list on its website of 28 sailings on 21 ships that dealt with coronavirus. The list, made public over the weekend, included some of the industry's biggest ships, including two Royal Caribbean ships, Symphony of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas, and MSC Cruises' Meraviglia, all of which can carry 4,500 or more passengers.
The following lists include only cruises that made port calls or disembarked in the U.S. International voyages that did not make stops at any American ports are not included because they are not under CDC jurisdiction.

(9,084 posts)I prefer RCL not only because I like their decor, but also because its more subdued than Carnivals (The other big cruise line sailing out of Galveston).

(31,997 posts)one year our airport canceled our hopper plan to St. Louis to the bigger plan to get to Florida.
Put us on a Greyhound to Dallas. It broke down (no joke) 10 times on I -35.
Needless to say we missed sail. Didn't get to Miami until like 2 AM next day. Royal Caribbean put us in a hotel, flied us to Jamaica to catch the boat and then refunded all of us 1/2 the cost of the cruise. It wasn't even their fault.
Yes-we are loyal to Royal

(9,084 posts)These pandemics pass. I expect that in due course after some thorough cleaning, the worst well have to worry about is some new strain of norovirus or being isolated in our cabins for a couple of days after we get the runs after eating something at a port of call that we should have left alone.

(25,183 posts)(not much chance of that!) I would want to also know what the cruise operator's plan is should something go wrong. Will they have an ironclad plan for returning to a safe facility onshore, without having to wander around the oceans in a scene out of "Voyage of the Damned"?

I would live on a boat if I could

(25,183 posts)but he was the "captain" and it was his boat. He would have never put up with the hell that cruise passengers have been through.

(26,696 posts)I havent heard of symptoms showing up a full month after exposure. So you either didnt catch it or (probably better) caught a mild case and youre now immune.

(9,084 posts)Although it looks like theres still a good chance to catch it on dry land.
In the meantime, Ive promised myself not to eat bats, even if theyve been well-cooked.
