What is up with the recent increase in posts linking to instagram and twitter garbage?

Using twitter or instagram posts as your link to bolster your argument is lame. Just because somebody on twitter or instagram shares your opinion, has nothing to do with it’s validity.

That’s like citing Wikipedia as source on your essay. It’s just lazy.

I’ve noticed a marked increase in these posts in the last week or so.

which I always try to summarize further from the actual article linked. Others are from an impressive array of subject experts, e.g., Lawrence Tribe, Neal Katyal, Mimi Joyce Vance, Rocah, Glenn Kirschner, Renatto Mariotti for constitutional and DOJ legal matters as but one example.

I'm no fan of Instagram and I'm not even on twitter myself, but I do follow some very impressive people and organizations on it by bookmarking their twitter addresses.

There are good ways to use twitter to post and I find your OP seems to miss that.

I don't use it to bolster any argument as you say, but you can get late breaking news from certain people.

journalists from Associated Press, WaPo, NYT, New Yorker; Rachel Maddow, Thom Hartmann, Jim Acosta, Daniel Dale, Richard Engel, Jeff Mason, Ben Rhodes, Aaron Rupar; there are also others, Conan O'Brien, Jeff Teidrich; BBC, American Oversight

plus some fun stuff.

I don’t want to call individuals out, but the link above was posted as “evidence” to back up a claim someone made here.

The posts the link goes to have zero factual data, just a bunch of opinion posts from other people. The way the info is presented doesn’t even flow. Furthermore, at several responses within the thread, the OP responded with “read the link”.

Go ahead, post your eye roll emojis if it makes you feel good. Post a word salad of non sequitur subjects.

The subject of my post is still valid. This isn’t the only post I’ve seen like this recently, and if this is where we are headed for the next 6 months this place is going to turn into a cesspool.

My opinion, (and that’s kind of what this OP was about, the difference between posting about facts and backing them up, and posting your opinion, which you should take pains to identify) is that the reason there’s more of this going on has to do with the new posters. Some of it’s intentional, some of it’s just not being used to posting online yet, maybe.

There are some bad actors in the group of new posters I believe, and this is part of how they spread dis and misinformation, by lowering the level of discourse.

Just sayin’.
