Coronavirus: Trump friend Stanley I Chera, who president revealed was in a coma, has died

Stanley I Chera’s death on Saturday was reported by The Real Deal, which covers the New York real estate industry. The Associated Press confirmed Chera’s identity and ties to the president with the White House.

Mr Trump first spoke about his friend, who had donated to his campaign, on 29 March.

He said: “I had a friend who went to a hospital the other day. He’s a little older, and he’s heavy, but he’s tough person. And he went to the hospital, and a day later, he’s in a coma ... he’s not doing well.

“The speed and the viciousness, especially if it gets the right person, it’s horrible. It’s really horrible.”

"I had a friend who went to a hospital the other day. He’s a little older, and he’s heavy, but he’s tough person. And he went to the hospital, and a day later, he’s in a coma ... he’s not doing well"

"I had a friend..." -- his "friend" was still alive when he said this
"He’s a little older..." -- meaning "older than I am" which implies trump is "better"
"... and he’s heavy..." -- this is a derogatory term especially here
"... but he’s tough person." -- this is a perfunctory pseudo-compliment. trump always does this to elicit some reciprocal praise

"And he went to the hospital, and a day later, he’s in a coma ... he’s not doing well." -- This is the kicker. Nothing at all about what his "friend" means to him or about how his "friend's" suffering affects him in any way or even about the suffering itself. Chera had a wife (Frieda) and three children (Isaac, Haim and Richard.) Frieda herself contracted the disease but recovered. A normal person would say something comforting at least for their benefit.

Maybe the quote isn't complete. I looked at the Independent story and they had nothing more from that appearance beyond that but that doesn't necessarily mean there wasn't more. But I don't think trump doing or saying anything outside of my criticism above is in his character.
