TIME: One of the most craven and ill-advised tactical moves in this entire campaign.

Unless the Romney campaign has gamed this crisis out in some manner completely invisible to the Gang of 500, his doubling down on criticism of the President for the statement coming out of Cairo is likely to be seen as one of the most craven and ill-advised tactical moves in this entire campaign.

http://thepage.time.com/2012/09/12/romney-and-foreign-policy/

Romney’s decision to use a fatal attack on Americans as an opportunity to seek political gain based on a complete lie is just the latest example of his copyrighted #romneyshambles campaign. It is a classic #romneyfail.

Jumping Ship Update:

Romney’s decision to weigh in is generating criticism from fellow Republicans. Former Sen. John Sununu of New Hampshire said on MSNBC Wednesday morning: “They probably should have waited. … You look at the way things unfolded, you look at the timing of it, they probably should have waited.”
http://www.nationaljournal.com/whitehouse/romney-campaign-denies-acting-rashly-on-libyan-situation-20120912

*********

Bracing for trouble before the start of the protests here and in Libya, the American Embassy released a statement shortly after noon that appeared to refer to Mr. Jones [the idiotic Koran-burning "pastor" Terry Jones]: "The United States Embassy in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions." It later denounced the "unjustified breach of our embassy."

Apparently unaware of the timing of the first embassy statement, the Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, put out a statement just before midnight Tuesday saying, "It's disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks." Mr. Romney also said he was "outraged" at the attacks on the embassy and consulate.

http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/09/12/837841/tom-ridge-obama-libya/
hinkProgress spoke with Ridge, who served under President George W. Bush from 2003 to 2005 and endorsed Romney earlier this year, on Capitol Hill today to get his reaction. He was unwilling to criticize Romney directly — “I don’t want to get in the he said, she said” — but rebuffed his charge that Obama’s sentiments were with those who carried out the attacks. “I don’t think President Obama sympathizes with those who attacked us,” Ridge said. “I don’t think any American does.”
KEYES: Do you think that President Obama sympathizes with those who attacked us and attacked the embassies?
RIDGE: No, I don’t think President Obama sympathizes with those who attacked us. I don’t think any American does. I’m not going to question the strength of his words.

Watch it:

&feature=player_embedded

Romney is finding few defenders for his charge, even among fellow Republicans. Buzzfeed spoke with a senior Republican foreign policy hand who said that Romney was “just trying to score a cheap news cycle hit” and now it’s become an “utter disaster.” Top Republicans in Congress are also refusing to echo their presidential candidate’s in press releases.

rMoney tried to paint Obama, once again, as not really American,
siding with the attackers.

This is his 'pallin' around wiht terrorists' moment.

They obviously continue to believe Obama can be dissed as
a Muslim, an illegitimate-not-born-here pretender.

I expect Willie Horton ads, but with a turbin this time around.

What does surprise me is they seem to think the American public
is stupid enough to believe them.

But you know those Madison Avenue Corporate Public Relations types!

Mitt is one of them!

I've been upset since the first reports of attacks on the Benghazi consulate last night.

My Romney/Ron Paul supporting roommate just told me that he thought that I was getting too upset about things over which I have no control. I had told him that today was a bad day. He asked me why. I told him that an American ambassador had been killed last night along with a consular official and two other, maybe marines. He said, "Oh, I thought that it was something personal. You really should think about getting upset over things over which you have no control." He's a big Rmoney fan. He can't understand why anyone could vote for someone other than Rmoney. I have been thinking that I need to move, and this provides a big incentive.
