Because you don't know exactly where it's going and what will happen. You don't know if lives are at stake and speaking against the President will make things worse. It's important, until it's clear what is happening, that everyone present the US as one nation. "One nation under God" isn't just about "God."
What he did is not just careless and a political misstep, it's also unAmerican, and certainly unpatriotic.
After the smoke clears, you can say what you need to say. But not during the crisis.

(4,340 posts)Granted, shrub was definitely unintelligent and not qualified to be President. But I'm talking about a sociopath, and I think Rmoney is a bigger sociopath than shrub.

(30,674 posts)that is the only thing that counts. And they will use every dollar, every cheat, every lie, and every corrupt official to try to get what they want.
There twisted message rings true with the RW media. That is who will spread the lies. And they will spread like wildfire. Because they don't care about facts or consequences. They are 100% buying the election

(5,762 posts)Make no mistake. I despised W with a white-hot passion.
But on September 11, 2001, I sat and waited quietly, anxiously, for the President to do something, anything, say something to reassure a terrified nation.
No matter that I thought he was a weasly coward for hopscotching across the country all day; that was not the time to say it. I nursed a secret hope that he might actually do something good.
Of course, I was completely misguided, as we now know. But, to paraphrase Mamet:
"YOU DON'T OPEN YOUR MOUTH UNTIL YOU KNOW THE SHOT."
