"Don't bother.They're here!"

Last edited Sat Jan 7, 2012, 12:47 PM - Edit history (2)

The Clown College known as the GOP candidates are wending their way to SC. I expect Gingrich to fire on Fort Sumter and demand we secede again. They all seem to be running for Jeff Davis's old office and not Lincoln's.

We may reach CCM very soon. That's critical clown mass. We stay near that point and the addition of those loons just might do it. I'm not sure what happens if we do, but it should be interesting.

Larry, Moe, and Curly have been touring the state together. They are also known as Romney, McCain, and Haley. It's a traveling show under the Big Top. Next up (or down) will be the Man On Dog act.

Mittens is leading, but as it has been so delicately put Santorum is surging. It will be interesting. I expect Rantorum will be right up a lot of the wingnut's alleys. Once they hear his ideas on the Blahs, his numbers should shoot up. Santorum has spent more time talking about gay sex and same sex marriage than the LGBT community did in 2011.

It's hard to tell that they are here though. We have so many fools that they blend right in. Their accents are usually the only clue.

Wish you were here!

This punchy term nicely captures the way that rightwing argumentation has become gradually detached from independently recognized reality and into a state of total unselfawareness. The pace of change is also accelerating. Just weeks before the election I never could guess that wingnuts would organize nationally around an act that they call teabagging. Imagine being the traveler from the future of three months hence trying to convince Americans of our semantically awkward future. How would you even start?

Thanks to the magic of talk radio and the internet, these guys can talk to no-one but each other for extremely long stretches of time, so they have no idea how crazy they sound. The time could come in the very near future when it becomes totally impossible for any ordinary person to have any idea what they are talking about. They will be beyond ordinary logic, beyond spoof. The wingularity will have arrived.

Unfortunately, I have lived here so long that I do know what their chattering means. I am bilingual.

And now that they are gone, happy days are here again. My advice to you is to turn off your TV or at least don't watch your local channels until after the primary. It will save your sanity not seeing ad after ad after ad for the clowns. And avoid small town cafes, you never know when a Santorum photo-op is going to ooze through the door to ruin your breakfast.

K&R for the thread, but your screen name intrigues me. Can these "grits" you speak of be purchased at a supermarket, or do they have to be home-made?

Grits is just low class polenta. You can buy them or if you have the tools, time, and directions you could make them I suppose.

I mean, certainly, if one enjoys a given food, I suppose one could be said to "love" that food, but my cousin Fred learned the hard way that if--well, perhaps that's best not discussed.
