Oh great god in a butter hat! ... "Committee hearing on Obama Administration's Abuse of Power".

Look what idiocy was spewed from the House Judiciary Committee today.

---

Statement of Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith
Full Committee Hearing on
The Obama Administration’s Abuse of Power

Chairman Smith: This Committee has held hearings on many of the ways in which the Obama Administration has abused its power, ignored its duties, evaded responsibility and overstepped the Constitution’s limits on the President.

Today's hearing will look at the pattern of ignoring constitutional limits created by all of these abuses.

The Administration has repeatedly put its partisan agenda above the rule of law. In doing so, it has eroded the constitutional and legal foundations that have kept America prosperous and free for over 200 years.

etc. ... Yadda, yadda, yadda.

When the democrats held these types of hearings they were ignored and considered political - yet they were truly dealing with serious abuses of power . Now, the repubs hold these hearings based on made up shit and people are taking this seriously????

Conyers said the Republicans' title ("The Obama's Administration's Abuse of Power&quot was "provocative" and conclusory, and asked that the title be withdrawn. During the Bush Administration, Democrats held a hearing on Bush abuses titled "Executive Power and its Constitutional Limitations."

Anyway, Conyers pointed to some things the Judiciary Committee had NOT dealt with this term:

"We have not had a single hearing on the outrageous attempts to suppress the vote through new identification requirements and limits on registration and early voting. I was here for the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and I consider these new state laws a direct threat to our democratic process and the very fabric of our nation.

"We have not yet had a single serious discussion about real, comprehensive immigration reform—or what steps we can take to invest in young people, brought to the United States through no fault of their own, who want to pursue an education or serve in our military.

"We have done nothing to address the stunning rate of incarceration in the United States—seven times that of the rest of the world, 40 times for our African American population. 2.3 million Americans behind bars is a sign of gross injustice, let alone misuse of funds, and surely worthy of discussion.

"We have had hearings, briefings, and a contempt citation on the floor targeted at Operation Fast and Furious. But we have not yet held a single hearing in this committee to address the flood of weapons trafficking across our borders and into Mexico. And we have not yet had a single discussion about gun violence in this country, the scourge of which claims 33,000 lives every year—one minor every hour."

If enough people do it, maybe the Teabillies will stop this nonsense. I just hope they all get voted out of office. Of course watch the shenanigans between the election and January with the lame duck Congress especially if they lose control of the House and Senate.
