Yesterday romney said as he's said about a hundred times, that President Barack Obama goes all around the world apologizing for America when that has never happened, not even once, yet every chance willard gets he accuses Obama of apologizing and promises that if he is elected president he'll NEVER apologize for America.
And his little attempt to pretend to already be the president staged 5 minutes before the real president was supposed to speak about the tragedy in Libya was not only insulting, it is drifting right into treason. Undermining the president, fanning the flames and behaving like a traitor could even be classified as a crime.
And to accuse Obama of sympathizing with terrorists, thereby inferring that he's 'one of them', or suggesting that the president is a Muslim again is nothing less than dangerous.
So instead of lying that the president apologizes for America I demand that mitt romney apologize to our president. Of course he won't, cause he has no class and he only reads what is written for him to speak by the assholes who got us into 2 wars already.
Fuck you romney, you really blew it, big time, now you don't have a chance in hell of being the president, you're way too fucking stupid.

(62,444 posts)What Romney has demonstrated is that any bunch of malcontents can stir up a shitstorm to influence US politics.
Simultaneously, an Israeli website started by a former science advisor to Netanyahu published, and then withdrew, yet another "forgery analysis" of the president's birth certificate.
There is a full court press to stir up nutbars of every stripe.
With the electoral math firming up, the only hope Romney has is that some random chaotic event will throw a wrench into the works, and there seems no shortage of folks pulling out every stop to whip one up.

(62,444 posts)I don't know when the last prosecution for treason was, but people throw that word around way too much.
If I had to make a wild ass guess, I'd be that "aid and comfort" would tend to mean something along the lines of material aid or assistance, unless you want to hang Jane Fonda too.

(15,019 posts)Chris Matthews showed a clip of romney accusing Obama of apologizing and he used the word about 35 times in separate speeches, like it's the only thing they have.

(62,444 posts)THAT word has been defined out of existence.
I'm still confused as to what was supposed to be the "apology" in question. If we're talking about the statement that said, in effect, "We condemn the abuse of free speech to no good purpose other than to insult other people and piss them off," I don't see any "apology" in that.
I mean, sure, anyone is free under the First Amendment to go around screaming "I hate n****s" at the top of their lungs all day, the Westboro Baptist people are free to do their schtick, neo-Nazis can march and salute around the block 24/7/365 if that's what gets their jiggies out. All of that stuff is fine.
But anyone, including government officials, are free to say, "What those guys are saying is awful." Nobody, including the government, has to like or approve of anyone else's exercise of their First Amendment rights.
It's also asking a lot for people who have never known anything other than state controlled media to catch on to the fact that the rest of the world doesn't work that way. Their assumption that media products from other countries is approved by the respective governments of those countries is a perfectly valid assumption for them to make on the basis of everything their experience has taught them. It's not like they grew up learning civics in a US public school classroom.
To get anywhere with anyone, you have to meet them where they are. It is not any kind of "apology" to say to someone "I understand why you are upset," but some weird strain of belief has infected our politics to the extent that merely admitting that someone else sees things differently, or is coming from a different perspective, is some kind of defense or justification for their viewpoint.
That happens in dialog where the objective isn't to reach any sort of mutual understanding, but merely to demonize the side in order to perpetuate conflict.
But there is more than one meaning to "apologize" anyway. Classically, it simply means to explain. But the dominant sense of the word is to engage in some bizarre ritual of shame and regret.

(1,237 posts)Play's the victim roll when he gets butchered in the debates, at some point he'll demand an apology the POTUS needs to remind him that he is the president and it would be weak for him to do so.

I just round-filed that resume in the trash can across the room with a beautiful 3-point shot. See ya, Mitt!

(10,495 posts)This needs to b reigned in ASAP! It needs to be strongly denounced. After this election, Obama needs to have a speech about religion like he did about race. He needs to explain tha most religions advocate religious tolerance. Our very Country was founded by a group seeking to practice their religion in peace. We need to understand that there are other citizens of this country that are not Christian. We need to understand that Muslims are not the enemy. The extremists of each religion should not be allowed to corrupt the rest of us or drag us into conflict. Obama needs to explain the reasoning behind the Founding Fathers decision to separate church and State. Hell, according to the wing nuts, the separation of church and State is a myth!

(9,978 posts)This poster from Bill Miller Engineering is a good illustration of how that gets all tangled up in patriotisim and militarisim.
Yep - a huge, steam powered dog whistle. Of course, you never hear specifics about the so-called apology. From what I read of Bill, he's a prickly SOB - I know he changes drivers like underwear in his own car. And no, he does not speak for everyone in motorsports, by any reasonable stretch of the imagination. But he's beatin' on that motherf'n drum, every chance he gets -
