think through what you are doing. For example, if you are a nuclear submarine captain, have an affair with someone who, upon learning of your demise from your fictitious account won't show up AT YOUR HOME to pay condolences.

Women seem to have much less drama in the affairs they initiate. I wonder why, or if it just doesn't make the news. Maybe they are smarter, or their affairs involve much more forethought..

Use your brain. Read a little, such as this or this.

Don't hurt anyone because of ignorance, and never, ever, for damn sure, DON'T HURT THE KIDS.

It's easy to be judgmental and reach for the "Just Say No" answer, but that's simply ignoring reality. As many as 50% of all married couples have at least one partner who has an affair, and given the clandestine nature, it is possible (or not) the percentage is much higher. Oh, and it is becoming more common. Biology is a powerful force, eh?

Despite the affairs that are discovered, it is thought that most are not.One source says that half of all affairs are discovered when one partner tells the other voluntarily, many of which I suspect occur after something done stupidly causes suspicion. There is an argument that those things may not be accidental - though that would give credit for forethought where I am not sure it is due. I think people just don't take security seriously. If you don't have a pre-arrangement, and you really do remain committed to the person you are with, one should be careful. Take precautions, both in the logistics and the physical meeting.

From the site Truth About Deception, here.

It is estimated that roughly 30 to 60% of all married individuals (in the United States) will engage in infidelity at some point during their marriage (see, Buss and Shackelford for review of this research). And these numbers are probably on the conservative side, when you consider that close to half of all marriages end in divorce (people are more likely to stray as relationships fall apart; also see, who is likely to cheat).
Research consistently shows that 2 to 3% of all children are the product of infidelity (see, Anderson). And most of these children are unknowingly raised by men who are not their biological fathers. DNA testing is finally making it easy for people to check the paternity of their children (see, paternity issues).
Infidelity is becoming more common among people under 30. Many experts believe this increase in cheating is due to greater opportunity (time spent away from a spouse) and young people developing the habit of having multiple sexual partners before they get married (see, young and restless - Wall Street Journal).
...
Men are more likely to cheat than women. But, as women become more financially independent, women are starting to act more like men with respect to infidelity (also see, cheating wife, cheating husband, why men cheat, and why women cheat).
