(12,712 posts)Wow. Just wow.
I am finally hearing some notable and esteemed figures coming out with a response that mirrors what many of us have been feeling and thinking and that resonates with our understanding and needs right now.
If this is the rally cry, as per Obama and Quomo, et al, then I am all in and support building a strong and relentless response based on truth, on facts, on what is real and necessary for all Americans, not just a chosen few. To see leaders rise to this occasion and lay the gauntlet down in such a sincere and precise manner is going to build up our morale and give a great impetus to the coming blue wave and the healing of our country physically, politically, economically and mentally--it's a psychological buffer to prepare us for what we have to deal with.

They've shown themselves willing to kick millions off their health insurance and eliminate pre-existing conditions protections for millions more, even in the middle of this public health crisis, even as they're willing to spend a trillion dollars on tax cuts for the wealthy."

(33,309 posts)Glad I kicked it for late night, then, so you wouldn't miss hearing a real President! It was such a relief for me to hear him give a concise summary of the Republican party, from health insurance to denial of science to denial of rule by law and voters' rights. He even pointed out the propaganda network.
"Our country's future hangs on this election, and it won't be easy."
"Good government matters."

(297,029 posts)President Obama has no more ***** to give.
As he so eloquently explains why the time is Now for All Hands On Deck!
We can expect to see much more of these brilliant appeals from Obama.
I can see why the gop and trump don't want this seen, and according to that post.. they're trying block it? I don't understand how they could do that?
Yes, I think some threads are important to keep kicked so as many people as possible can see them.. especially when there's so much information coming down the pike. Can't wait until we get a GE forum to keep it all in one place.
Thank you for kicking it!

(33,309 posts)There is talk now of treatment and a vaccine, both becoming available sooner than expected. Doing an early lock-down nationwide, along with extensive testing and tracing, most of those 60,000+ people killed by GOP greed and incompetence would be alive in time for both treatment and vaccination.

(297,029 posts)as President.. they would have been on it even before it started. it was trump who fired the pandemic response team and disbanded it.
They wouldn't have wasted 70 precious days playing golf, staging rallies and calling it a "repub hoax".. like the idiotrump.
I hope a vaccine is created soon to protect everyone from this deadly virus.

The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a novel infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), spread to New Zealand, when the first case was reported on 28 February 2020. As of 30 April 2020, the country has a total of 1,476 cases (1,129 confirmed and 347 probable[a]), of which 216 are active, and 19 people have died from the virus.[1] Cases have occurred in all 20 district health board (DHB) areas of the country. As of 29 April 2020, sixteen DHBs have active cases; there are no active cases in Tairāwhiti, Wairarapa, West Coast or Whanganui DHBs.[1]
All borders and entry ports of New Zealand were closed to all non-residents at 11:59 pm on 19 March 2020, with returning citizens and residents being required to self-isolate. Since 10 April, all New Zealanders returning from overseas must go into two weeks of supervised quarantine.
A four-level alert level system was introduced on 21 March to manage the outbreak within New Zealand. The alert level was initially set at level 2, but was subsequently raised to level 3 on the afternoon of 23 March. Beginning at 11:59 pm on 25 March, the alert level was moved to level 4, putting the country into a nationwide lockdown. The alert level was moved back down to level 3 at 11:59 pm on 27 April, partially lifting some lockdown restrictions.
