Georgia - Kemp - no road test to get drivers license

BONUS! No road experience needed to get drivers license
Georgia is definitely in the race to try any and everything during the pandemic, aren’t they?!

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp revealed a new executive order on Thursday that gives teenagers a pass on needing a formal driving test in order to receive their driver’s license. Yep, they won’t even have to take a road test. How will they get the approval for a license? Their parents have to sign off on it.

Under Governor Kemp's latest executive order, teens still have to fulfill all driving requirements, but the behind the wheel road test has been suspended. While the Department of Driver Services practices social distancing during this pandemic, it's impossible for an employee to conduct a road test in the same vehicle with an applicant and still keep their distance.

practice driving at home. If not for driver's ed, I would not have known anything with the way my mother was about not allowing me to practice driving and making it impossible for me to get a license even years after I was old enough to get it. It was horrible. The road part of the test turned out to be the easier part of getting my license when my aunt finally took me to get my license ages later, even though I am usually a bookworm/ace any test type.

I would imagine this will cut down on the number of transmissions of the virus and could probably be a good thing. I'm not sure about Georgia, but in NC, you do get driver's ed. So, they will at least have that much experience on the road. I guess they could have them make that dreaded 3 point turn in the parking lot and just watch them from outside the car. That would make for some fun live cam viewing for the rest of us. Just joking on the last part.

they test your driving abilities?

This way the Guv could have an excuse for lack of testing for Covid-19.

He'll say - Hey you don't need to be tested to get your driver's license - so why do you need a test for Covid-19 before you go back to normal activities and end the stay-at-home orders?

For teens that is more likely to go see friends. I thought we were supposed to be staying home. Well, this is Georgia and they want to open up.

Nothing like having a whole bunch of teenagers running around in their newly acquired cars to spread the joy of virus.

Plenty of cars crossing the border here into South Carolina with Georgia tags on them. They're just s shitty drivers as the ones in my state. I swear, people forget the rules of the road as soon as they walk out of the DMV. Or, what are turn signals. Or, that traffic signs are the law, and not optional...
