For the past few days Ive been collecting some of the more astounding Coronavirus comments from Facebook groups I frequent. I must emphasize that the vast majority of people in these groups are sane and reasonable, making the insanely ignorant really stand out. So, Without further ado:
-
Already had the Chinese flu and Im not getting a vaccine for it when it is available
Are hospitals are not over ran not even close there for making his emergency declaration void. Pa law stated to order a emergency declaration are hospitals must be on verge of being over ran or put of supplies.
Stop letting MSM scar you into poverty.
The "medical officials" PAD the Actual number of people who Really died from actual Covid 19 complications. More people have died worldwide every year from the Common Flu.
your afraid that why you locked your self away out of fear because if you truly trusted in God then go out if you get sick so be it if you get sick and die so be it thats Gods will what part of that dont you understand,
It's about time people start rising up. We have been violated and it's just the beginning if people with American principals don't stand up and say, this is enough.
They just took 28k deaths off the covid list. Think about why the government would want their numbers boosted. The total deaths in the us is barely over 30k. The flu kills 100k every year
You're more likely to get hit by a beer truck Then to get C19 i'll take my chances.
If your healthy wearing a mask is not healthy for you!
The hospitals get more $$$ if they treat for this, I doubt we had a single case. Fake news
Suggestions not a law to force u to stay home
I never payed any attention to the"order" anyhow.
So Freedom was assaulted for something which has a death rate akin to a MILD Seasonal Influenza!!
I am allergic to the elastic. My face and eyes swell up and I absolutely could die from wearing a mask.
I cant wear a mask because I have a lung condition they have to let you in if your medical
Fear mongering. And it's created by ufos and murder hornets
The vaccine would contain nano technology of which could replicate itself inside of our bodies
The virus cannot live outside.
Tell me how Im supposed to breath with no air
Yeah because we keep wearing masks it's gonna keep all our germs inside of us and will never be healthy. Destroy lungs with carbon dioxide

(18,439 posts)I registered once at the suggestion of my daughter. The following morning I had over 100 people who "friended" me, none of which I actually knew. I took a look at the garbage circulating as "news" and quickly closed my account. Well, you can't actually "close" an account, but you can take yourself out of circulation. Facebook always has your information "in case" you want to jump right back into the cesspool. Oh, and my daughter has since frozen her account as well.
Some people say they like it so they can keep up with family and friends, but phone calls, texts, Skype etc. always seem to work for me, and Zuckerberg doesn't get a chance to sell my information to everyone on the planet when I don't give him the chance.

(44,308 posts)many states had stopped doing elective procedures. Patients don't want to go in for fear of catching COVID. And there are fewer injuries and illnesses in general if people stay home.
All this is temporary. So when there is a local outbreak, the nearest hospitals don't have enough ICU capacity. It's risky business to transport patients long distances if they're in bad shape and could die along the way.

So when they see these conspiracy theories many of which are being started and spread by Russian bots on social media and bolstered by such medical geniuses as Laura Ingram they fall for it hook line and sinker. They also WANT to believe. Like they want to believe their demi-god *Trump can do no wrong and if he tells you to drink bleach that's OK. They want to believe that their miserable lot in life is due to "the libs" and of course listening to sane advice about sheltering at home is somehow hurting their "freedom."

(1,564 posts)I realize there are truly stupid people out there. Some of those posters have to be trolls though. The downside of internet anonymity is people post things like that without fear of reprisals.
If I had one wish, Id instantly make everyone on the internet only be allowed to post stuff that was accompanied by their real name and photograph. It wouldnt stop it completely(Alex Jones, anyone), but it would curb the majority of it instantly, I think, and over time, your peer group would take care of most of the rest.

(8,215 posts)This may come as a surprise but there are people in this country who only believe their personal belief system. No matter the evidence, it can always be interpreted to fit their analysis. They evade the truth like it was a bill collector. If they found the truth, theyd burn it and file a claim.
And some of them can afford very expensive guns.

(2,019 posts)There have been decades of brainwashed Right Wing idiots, but they were put on steroids by the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine. Conservative media then had free reign buy-up and/or run out most forms of legitimate news, freeing themselves up to pump their indoctrination propaganda into people's heads 24/7. Add the internet to that mix and you have a saturation of propaganda that past totalitarians could have only imagined in their wildest dreams.
We all need to stick together like never before and fight as a team to crush these subhuman bastards. They will not stop until they are stopped and it's time to stop being the victims and bring the fight to them.

(11,054 posts)The poll workers give a super easy test to the voters they like. "Q. Who was first President of the United States?" "Abraham Washington." "Close enough."
They give the harder test to the prospective voters they want to exclude. "Q. Who was 23rd Vice President of the United States?" "Adlai Stevenson." "Oh, sorry, you were so close. It was Adlai Stevenson the first, not the second or the third. Your answer was incomplete, so you don't get to vote. Try studying harder."

(23,158 posts)people to pass to become a citizen. Same test for everyone.
I don't expect this to ever happen, but my point was that most Trump voters probably could not pass it.
tclambert
(11,054 posts)That's what Republicans would say, you know, to "protect the integrity of the voting system" while they proceed to corrupt it.
You're right that Trump voters couldn't pass a citizenship test. And therefore, Republican politicians would never allow it as a voter test. If all voters got the same test questions, Republicans would work really hard to find culturally biased questions that minorities and poor people would have trouble with and that rich white voters would recognize instantly. "What does ex-dividend date mean?" "Who is John Galt?"
My point is, your idea has merit, if we could keep it fair. But Republicans would twist it into yet another way to suppress voting.
