I donated $5 but every bit helps. Their ads have been devastatingly effective against Trump (i.e. "Mourning in America" ad)

(22,025 posts)I know, the enemy of my enemy... and all that.
The Lincoln Project is made up of conservatives who no longer identify as Republicans. In the past, some of them, including Rick Wilson, have been our fiercest enemies in the political world.
One's money might be better donated to Democratic candidates, particularly those in down-ballot races.
I love what they are doing, but in the end that money would be going to help get more people like Shrub and Kasich elected.
we can do it
(12,180 posts)I applaud what they are doing right now, but will spend my money on our candidates.

(620 posts)Their ads have been a more impactful message than anything I have seen coming from the democratic party. To me, their ads help every democrat running for office.

We should be giving our money to our candidates directly IMO
They aint getting any of my jack!
They got plenty of their own and plenty of rich people to ask. Fuck that!

(34,104 posts)but when he switches back, he is a conservative after all, he will be the ugly thorn in our sides again. Right now he calls himself a "former Republican strategist". I think he likes Biden, not sure but I know he did not care for Bernie so I figure Biden is palatable to him. The podcast from Daily Beast that he is on is hysterical as well as informative although if you keep up you already know the basics of what they talk about but listening to it sure is fun.
If I hear they are in trouble I would encourage anyone who can give a little to do that but to commit is an iffy thing. Who knows where they will go if Trump is out....still making that happen is the most important thing in the world right now.

(11,045 posts)Wilson et al. will be shunned by the GOP for life. And they know that. Maybe just maybe Republicans could forgive the Lincoln Project for taking down trump sometime in the distant future, but the Lincoln Project is doing more than that. They are targeting vulnerable GOP senators in a bid to give Democrats a majory in the Senate.
There is no way home.

(34,104 posts)I had not thought about that. He is a funny guy and I appreciate his humor but he is way too conservative for me to support except maybe in this one instance. The rub when this happens is that these real conservative R's often register D when they need to be registered. I don't know if they will actually work to move our party further to the right or if they will just rest there for a while. Complicated issues when one party gets clobbered like the R's are now. Right now we need everyone we can get to make certain Trump has no possibility of coming even close to winning. Hmmmmm, thanks. Perhaps when Trump is gone their party will normalize and become something resembling a group of minds and not a group of yes men/women.

(14,561 posts)they are doing what some group of Democrats should have been doing a LONG damn time ago.
Taking the gloves off and taking the fight to the GOP.
Give me another group with Democrats going this as effectively as they are, and I will donate to them.

(32,961 posts)I like the ads, alot, but those same republicans brought Poppy& Shrub& JebBush, John Kasich, and that whole repugnant mess to this country.
I'm donating from my 'widows mite' directly to Democratic candidates.
They own this mess.

Develop our own resources and capabilities. Don't outsource it to Republicans who put us in this goddamn situation.
