Rep. Eliot Engel : An unlawful act of retaliation.

Rep. Eliot Engel on the firing of State Dept. IG Steve Linick: “I have learned that the Office of the Inspector General had opened an investigation into Secretary Pompeo. My. Linick’s firing amid such a probe strongly suggests that this is an unlawful act of retaliation.”

At this point it really does not matter to the administration that this act is unlawful. He got away with colluding with an 'enemy' state, he got away with impeachment, he has got away with lies and grit every single day of his presidency... they were bound to do this. This is situation normal to them and the only way this will ever stop is for the country to kick him out in November. The only shocking thing about this firing is that it is not shocking at all and it really should be.

What new, low bar must be broken? Who would be shocked if it were proven that trump committed murder? Human sacrifice? Cannibalism? infanticide? And this, before his Breakfast McMuffin.

...once this behavior starts it can move very quickly.

We see it starting to escalate now. They have no morals, no shame, no allegiance to anyone but Trump.

That's the big C (for concern). The last 2 GOP presidents as well as the fraud in 1980 all secured their tenure by manipulation of the election/electorate by one nefarious mean or another. And as Bartcop famously said, if one profits from some abhorrent behavior, "expect them to repeat that same behavior time after time."

.... parishioners have to do that by way of paying tithes.

Then there are mansions up on the hill that require constant upkeep.

there will be no consequences for any white house action, and cat grabber is not leaving office. So vote, gnash your teeth, complain about illegal actions, none of it matters. How does a civil war look in 2020 America? Perhaps people will sign an online petition, or post an indignant tweet. Republicans know they can get away with it , so they will.

would stop him, which meant that he was more and more emboldened to break the rule of law, political and cultural mores, conventions and traditions; he could step over lines none of his predecessors had stepped over because some things were sacred. I guess I was naive, I'd believed the Constitution protected us more than it eventually did. And the realization of how fragile the Constitution is, how much it depends on the will of the three branches to work for the good of the people, how thin the veil... that was, and is, a scary thought. And a sobering realization of privilege, as people of color and their ancestors could have told me long ago.

Balance of power. IGs in the Executive branch should be congressional employees or protected federal employees who can only be fired for cause. This critical position should not be held by political appointees who serve at the President's pleasure.

Has that ever stopped them before. Either do something about it or shut up. There are enough toothless “condemnations” from many sources every day.
