I think you mean "they", and that, according to polls, is a small minority of Americans, more rightfully called "some".

(9,696 posts)Polls show a majority of Americans want health to take precedence over the economy.

(29,026 posts)just as majorities want stricter gun control.
One does get tired of being defined by a small, negative minority that are clearly not representative.

putting their lives on the line caring for the victims of Covid-19
risking their health and perhaps their lives preparing our food, delivering it, selling it
making sure other necessary, vital services are still functioning
setting up and stocking food banks, making masks and other PPEs
checking on neighbors and helping them any way they can
doing their best to get through this bleak time without being dangerous assholes

(22,338 posts)They are being permitted to intimidate government officials, take over a disproportionate share of the media, and are successfully pushing for removing proven effective pandemic controls.
Our culture is not defined by quit acts of generosity - it is being defined by violent self centered individuals who are succeeding in removing any effective controls we may have over the pandemic.
The good americans aren't pushing public policy and aren't pushing the media. The ones who show up in camo with guns, the ones who send death threats to medical professionals ARE.

(22,338 posts)The Americans who do not own guns have been powerless to regulate guns, remove guns from circulation and prevent any sensible gun regulation.
This society is defined by a violent gun culture. A majority of non-owners are somehow unable to change that culture and change the lax legal framework that allows gun massacres to occur and allows self styled militia to intimidate elected representative.
When we no longer see regular mass shootings, when camouflaged goons no longer threaten government officials over sensible pandemic controls, only then will we no longer be a society of spoiled children with guns.
Try again.

"The Anericans who do not own guns have been powerless to regulate guns* remove guns", etc.
Yes, just as decent Britons failed to prevent a man who calls Black people "'pickaninnies", comparing their smiles to "watermelons" from attaining it's highest office.
We have ALL failed -- every nation -- at one time or another at something.
"America is defined as a gun culture"...
Um, no, YOU are defining America as 'a violent gun culture'
An entire nation, especially one as large and diverse as ours, can hardly be defined by ONE attribute..Those attempting it are themselves defined by a narrow focus on one troublesome issue.
"A majority of non-owners are somehow unable to change that structure and the lax legal structure that allows gun massacres to occur.."
Lol..You mean a "lax" legal structure mandatong a Constitutional "right to bear arms"?
Noting your repeated use of the term "we", I can't understand how any American familiar with the gun reform fight could overlook how steep a hurdle the Second Amendment presents. It's an obstacle other countries who've been able to implement strong gun laws have NOT had to face...Try again.
