I was the first in and then about 6 followed, so yea, I got in first and out of lobby. In Oregon only emergency dental until May 1. They opened up other procedures May 1 and this office is slowly implementing other procedures. You can bet they take this seriously seeing how when drilling or cleaning, the virus flies.
A woman was about the fourth to check in. She was handed a mask. "Do I have to wear it?". Yes says office receptionist. She huffed and gruffed and attitude answering questions to determine if a risk but put the mask on. About the 6th to check in was a 40'sh man. Do I have to wear the mask? Yes.
He throws the mask on the counter and says, "I am not going to do it". And he walked out. Fuckin walked out because he refused to wear a mask. These employees are in this all day, wearing protection their whole shift, and this asshole had to make a stink. I was sure to thank each woman for being tough on mask wearing.
Afterwards when paying the bill I told the employee about the man refusing, and can you believe that? She said someone else walked out and threw their mask on lobby floor. The woman with an attitude before.
She says she is not surprised the way people behave. Even at 150, I am surprised. I really am. I read it here. But I am surprised each and every time. Mind blowing to me.

(115,584 posts)What it comes down to is that their Dear Leader won't wear one (because he's not a p*ssy like those snowflake libs), and has convinced them that the virus isn't a big deal - and they will not only drink every drop of the Kool-Aid he's serving, they'll insist that the rest of us drink it, too.

(31,907 posts)I have a dental appt. at the end of this month. I hope I dont see any idiots like that.
Is it an affront to their masculinity? Dont want a woman telling them what to do? Still think the virus is a hoax after 90 thousand deaths? I just dont get it.

(15,062 posts)Last week at Costco, they made you put on a mask to get in, but I saw quite a few shoppers who had obviously taken the mask off as soon as they got in the store! I steered clear and reported it to a supervisor before I left.

My dentists office has really good procedures implemented. Masks, waiting in cars and upon entering, using an antifungal antiviral mouth wash.

(8,674 posts)No way I would want to be up in a mouth Of these idiots anyway. Who knows what the hell resides in those nasty sewer holes, seems they practice zero hygiene, or sanitation. A great way to screen them. It is almost impossible to get a family dentist around here and there must be few dozen in my county. Let em rub some of the blood of Christ on a badly infected cavity. Any bitching but then comply, bring the pain. The dental hygienist have lots of sharp stuff.

(6,908 posts)I had to go to the hospital, they asked me to throw away my gloves from the outside. I did, and didnt touch anything. Everyone wore a mask, for me it was hot and uncomfortable.
But Im not a fucking baby and kept it on. Im surprised thats too difficult for the current President of the United States.

(9,952 posts)I wore it about ten minutes and started getting hot and bothered. I asked the gal if it was hard wearing all shift. She said you get used to it. ANd sure enough, 15 minutes in I was fine and didn't feel that suffocating thing.

(67,782 posts)....all patients to wear masks. But here its a state requirement (Governor's Executive Order) and can only see patients on an emergency basis until June 1.
I just don't understand people balking at that.
I hope the receptionist took note of those two and they ban them from their office, even when things get back to normal.

(2,230 posts)I've had an appointment to fix a chipped tooth pushed back twice already due to the pandemic, so when I rescheduled this last time, I pushed back a week to give them a chance to get their protocols sorted out. The appointment was first thing this morning, so they called me Friday to confirm and go over the procedures.
When I got there, I called up from my truck to let them know I had arrived. They sent someone down who was wearing a mask and gloves. He checked my temp and asked me relevant questions (have I had any symptoms, been around anyone with symptoms, etc) before we went up. Once inside, I saw no other patients, but there was at least one there (the dentist was working on them when I got there). No one was in the waiting room, as expected, since they told me Friday that there would only be people there if they had a small child come in and the parents needed to wait inside. The only time my mask came off was while they were working, and they never took off their masks.
I hope to not have to go back until August (for my regular cleaning), but if I do, I'm happy with their procedures. Perhaps the best part is if people don't want to put up with a mask, they'll know the requirement before they show up, so they just won't be there.

(204,703 posts)She said it was up to me, but some serious dental work (permanent bridge) was bothering me, so I made the decision to go in. And I was glad I did, was given a prescription for an antibiotic since she said I could end up with an abscess, something I never want to experience again. And I trust my dentist, she's treated my extended family since the '80s, she assured me that they'd disinfected the entire office and they aren't taking many patients now so I was the only one there.
