2. The WH doctor released a rather ... um, limited statement

Several medical commentators said if the Dr did prescribe it, it is unethical and dangerous.

I suspect the doctor was as surprised as anyone else to hear that, and his statement was carefully crafted to keep from saying it straight out that he prescribed it.

He very carefully stated (maybe after talking to a lawyer) that they had discussed it and "concluded the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks." Parse that a bit - the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks. But Trump isn't being treated for COVID-19 because (they tell us anyway) he doesn't have it. Supposedly he's taking it as a prophylactic - so he won't get it - for which it's useless. No studies, even the earlier ones that didn't pan out, have suggested that it prevents COVID-19, but that's what Trump is supposedly using it for. And the letter doesn't address that use at all - and never says Trump is, in fact using it. This may be the doctor's way of avoiding a malpractice suit if Trump really is using it and has a bad reaction, but if he never actually prescribed it, which is more likely, he's safe. He has no liability to the general public for his fuzzy remarks if Trump's cultists take it upon themselves to use it because their tin god claims to do so.

Motherfucker lies about absolutely everything. One should always assume he is blatantly lying unless there is independent evidence to the contrary.

The best way to deal with anything Trump says is to start out by assuming that the exact opposite is true. If lying can help him win the news cycle, why wouldn't he do it?

We should just assume it is a lie and go from there. Why can't we also assume he is guilty of everything THEN he has to prove his innocence afterwards in court. He hates America and the Constitution so why should we have the same rules for him. We already know that he thinks the rules and laws don't apply to him so let's make him happy and say he is right. Instead of proving guilt, prove innocence. Life in Bizarro World.

Grant that he is taking HCQ, and it IS working (or a cure or whatever). Why the hell is he not doing everything he can to get as much of it as possible and passed out to Americans, get doctors trained on prescribing the right amount, etc? He says he's the guy who can get things done. Why is he sitting on his circus peanut ass, twiddling his thumbs, letting Americans die and keeping us from reopening society?

If it is a cure, what he's doing is completely evil. So is he wrong about HCQ*, or is he an evil son-of-a-bitch? If it works, there's no excuse for his not doing anything.

* Of course, he's still evil because he's using anything as a distraction from all his lies and incompetence in handling the pandemic in the first place. Whether you want to hit Trumpers with that is up to you, but it involves more work, and sometimes you can only disabuse them of one notion at a time, if that.

If he takes hydroxychloroquine they will do that. It increases sales and then he makes a profit because he must have a $ stake in it or he wouldn't be continuing to push it.

So yes, I think he's stupid enough to be actually taking it. I hope he suffers the worst side effects but let's get meta-philisophical - Trump is too evil for anything bad to happen to him. Only the good die young and it is unfortunately absolutely fucking true.
