Chris Wallace debunks Trump: No record of massive or serious fraud from mail-in voting
By Joe Concha - 05/22/20 12:43 PM EDT
Fox News's Chris Wallace discredited President Trumps claims that mail-in voting is susceptible to fraud, arguing Friday "there really is no record of massive fraud or even serious fraud from mail-in voting."
Its being carried out in Republican states, its being carried out in Democratic states, there is no indication that mail-in voting as opposed to in person voting tends to favor one party over another, Wallace said.

When anchor Ed Henry asked if it was possible that a ballot mailed in could be swapped with another by someone receiving the mailed-in ballot, as Trump has suggested, Wallace was skeptical.
But when people get their ballots and mail them in themselves, no history of fraud at all, Wallace later added.

(7,527 posts)The rightwing believe that more votes = less chance of Rs getting elected because the people who tend to lean liberal are busy working on election day, can't take time off, have gerrymandered districts with fewer voting machines etc.
President Donald Trump said that if the United States switched to all-mail voting, youd never have a Republican elected in this country again.
The GOP speaker of the House in Georgia said an all-mail election would be extremely devastating to Republicans.
Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., said universal mail voting would be the end of our republic as we know it.

As with false claims by Republicans about vote-by-mail fraud, there is no evidence to back up the argument from the right that all-mail elections favor Democrats. But Trump and some of his allies are warning that vote-by-mail poses an existential threat to their party, in hopes of galvanizing Republican opposition to a voting method that is widely seen as safer than in-person voting in the era of the coronavirus.

Also, voting by mail takes some forethought, and they're counting on when they scrub the voting rolls for anyone with an African-American or foreign-sounding name that they won't want nor be able to go through the trouble to fix it day of. Voting by mail would give them advanced warning that something is wrong with their registration and time to fix it.

How would the criminal with the false ballot get the barcode from the legitimate ballot?
It would be caught immediately!
And too many of them? Alarm bells and flashing lights!

(82,849 posts)It's not the real reason, though. More ballots being cast is almost always bad for Republicans.
