***WARNING*** Please be careful of national level CV19 reports that still include NY Metro.

Last edited Mon May 25, 2020, 12:01 PM - Edit history (2)

Read on this site and have seen multiple lazy assed M$M reports of falling cases nationally without extracting the skewing data from NY Metro.

EDIT: For the next month or so look at hospitalization numbers ... they're harder to obfuscate and tell a better bottom line story of a county or state getting lit up.

If anyone knows of a site that list hospitalizations on a granular level please let me know

1. Multiple sources report New York metro is skewing national results because the size of the outbreak in that area.
2. COVIDACTNOW.org showing 90% of reporting counties with an Ro >1, meaning infection rates still growing in those areas
3. Same site is also showing 90% of counties without a proper positive test rate so don't eat the "we're testing more" crap

IIRC Even Quomo showed the national numbers with NY metro extracted during his daily update and the cases nationally were still rising (relative national Ro > 1 sans NY metro)

I don't know what this is about cause it sure aint the economy but it looks and sounds funny how there are multiple sources attempting to convince folk things are OK or getting better.

At best its staying the same outside of NY metro and same is bad

Be careful, wear a mask if you got to get close to folk and don't touch your face no matter what.

How will they rationalize the increases in cases and deaths in the coming weeks?

There's a sad irony in that by re-opening for the Memorial Day weekend with so many people giving up on the social distancing and use of masks, by the Fourth of July we'll be seeing much more sickness and death. Trump is even ruining our national holidays.

in cases is due to increased testing, but the number of people hospitalized has also been rising. This concerns me even though we haven't seen the numbers that many states have. We're reopening even though CV19 is still on the rise.

Just about every one works somewhere else. When the cube farms (Corporations in LR) really open up I expect to to start really moving along.

He is doing stupid stuff on reopening, but at the same time lecturing people on getting involved with thoughtless big group events. He evidences the have it both ways that republicans seem to be using on going after this crisis.

I get it. The country can not remain locked down. But at the same time, promoting known benefits like proper mask wearing and social distancing would allow the country to open back up without major damage.

which, due to their proximity to NY also had big outbreaks and also have been as strict as we in NY have been. Both those states' numbers are also dropping like stones.

So if you take the NY "tristate area" out of this, the numbers for the rest of the country look even worse.

... a part of the megalopolis very interesting.

"opening up" isn't going to save the economy, getting people ready access to quick testing is.

I wouldn't be shocked if Trump was working directly with Putin

advertising, law and the finance industry. I believe that one of our own DU members is an owner or high executive in the fashion industry in NYC who said that her home is somewhere in Conn. So yeah, people in Conn were directly in the path of the issues with the virus in NYC - in fact, I believe one of the first cluster outbreaks happened in Conn after some highend social gathering.

People generally have a good feel for how a relative or friend died. Also, I believe that ethical Nurses and Doctors will let family know the real details.

...no matter what the doctors and nurses and loved ones believe to be the true cause of death, that death won't make it into the official statistics.

Eventually someone will calculate the "excess death" rate and we'll be able to make a good estimate of the real death toll from COVID, but that's not going to appear in current official statistics, or probably any time soon in Florida's official statistics.
