They are hiding the death data - resistance to crossing the 100,000 death mark

Notice how the covid-19 death count has slowed as it approached 100,000?

Here is the CDC's Daily Updates of Totals by Week and State as of today, May 27, 2020:

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm

Please note the number of deaths reported for the latest week, ending May 23, 2020.

Covid-19 deaths plummeted from 3,206 on week ending May 16, 2020, to only 155 on week ending May 23, 2020.

But then look at the percent of expected deaths column for the last 4 weeks.

May 2nd - 111%
May 9th - 99%
May 16th - 63%
May 23rd - 8%. !!!????

This shows that they are under reporting deaths to keep the number under the artificial target of 100,000 deaths, but they cant hide the fact because it shows in the total number of expected deaths for the week.

92% of all deaths on week ending May 23rd, 2020 have not been reported. And the decline in death reports since May 2nd shows that there is a systematic bias.

Why is the media not looking at this?

1. Sorry - don't buy it

Unless you assume they're going to keep the number under 100,000 permanently, there's no point delaying the result for a day or two.

4. I do. I've wondered how come the exponential surge

toward 100,000 dead that mercifully had slowed and begun a downward but still dreadful slope suddenly turned into a very slow creep over a week and through Memorial Day weekend -- and still not there. Deaths in some states, like our own, GA, are still climbing and not yet hit their (first) peak.

That extremely symbolic holiday would be a reason for culpable politicians to delay that horrible marker of their achievement until afterward, and the CDC compiles data provided by state and local governments, and probably other institutions.

5. It's not a day or two

the actual number is closer to 130,000 and they want to suppress the actual numbers as they climb, especially in open States.

6. I'm currently attributing the small number to a lag in reporting caused by the holiday weekend.

However, if the trend doesn't return to the mean over the next few days, I'm open to the idea of manipulation.

13. Please, you're too smart not to know the count is being...

suppressed.

16. The Federal Government doesn't control counts...

...they're coming from the States, which don't all play along.

18. And the Blue one's aren't, which will push the total up...

I see no value in delaying the inevitable by a day or two.

19. Of course there's no value in it, but it's happened. The 100k mark...

was "officially" passed today but I suspect, and you probably do too, know that it was passed days, maybe even weeks ago, save for the suppression.

As far as why the repugs would delay it for a day or two, there's not too much logic in much of what comes from trump and the repugs. They don't seem to care if seniors die, and seniors are one of their biggest voting blocks.

2. 'The media' need to collect data on ALL deaths,

and compare to year over year averages, and extrapolate the real numbers. Then they can hold the liars accountable who are under reporting the deaths.

3. I Noticed The Split between Covid Only and COVID + Pneumonia Deaths

Why break out these 2 categories of deaths? Some of the Pneumonia Only deaths are also COVID deaths that were not tested for COVID for whatever reason. You are right to assume the Trump administration will lie and under report the cases and deaths.

7. The 100,000 mark was crossed yesterday

on worldometer which is WHO. I agree we are not getting true pictures from the US on deaths. This is exactly what Trump accused Xi of doing. He was projecting again. Currently at 100,765

10. M$M still reporting a number shy of 100K

That's the source and number consumed by most Americans, so the only one the orange blob cares about.

11. Fewer deaths over the holiday weekend

I think reporting slows because of the weekend.

12. That would explain a few days lag. But we're talking a month's lag. nt

14. There is a 1 to 8 week lag

according to the "*" in the report. I don't know if lag has grown in recent weeks. It looks like they are lagging about 4 weeks in these tables and it is likely that some of the April data may also still be incomplete.

Obviously we did not get through a week with only 1610 total deaths from all causes when it would normally be around 55,000.
