Flag Burning

I wish I had a dollar for every yahoo who said he would physically assault a flag burner. But to some it is risible behavior deserving of violent retribution therefore should the Supreme Court revisit their decision where they decided flag burning is protected under the First Amendment?

2. If the behavior is risible, why would anyone want to physically assault anyone?

The usual response to risible behavior is to or at least do a little of that LOLing.

Don't take those folks to a comedy club...they might assault the comedians.

I wouldn't burn anybody's flag, save a NAZI one, but some folks get real worked up about it. And it seems there are folks that want to make that the basis for what speech is allowed and not allowed.

7. The people getting bent out of shape wouldn't find the behavior at all risible, then!

They'd find it outrageous, disrespectful, shameful, craven, unpatriotic, or what-have-you, but they wouldn't find it laughable in the slightest...!

8. Has anyone actually SEEN a flag being burned in protest?

My dickhead freeper brother was home in the summer and I made some food for him. Never again; apparently carnitas turn teabaggers into total assholes.

Anyway, one of the things he was going on and on about was flag burning. How one of Washington's senators should be tried for treason because she didn't sign off on the flag protection amendment--she was the cause of its failure. (Apparently it failed by one vote, which means thirty-five senators could easily take the credit for being the one fly in the Republicans' ointment.) So I asked him, "have you EVER seen a flag being burned?" Of course he never had Because It Doesn't Happen.

13. I meant, have you seen one being burned by an American in a protest?

I've seen a few teabaggers who show up at liberal rallies and fire up a flag to attempt to discredit the liberals (this happened at Occupy protests), but the liberals tend to beat the shit out of the 'bagger just for being a dumbass.

The reality of the flag burning situation is, Americans who are protesting things DO NOT burn flags anymore. They haven't since the antiwar protests of the 1960s, and it didn't work then either.

12. As a Vet I fully Support anyone burning their own flag

it is their property they can do with it what they will.

Burning a flag that does not belong to you is theft and destruction of property and the person should be punished accordingly.

The day this county loses it mind and criminalizes or makes illegal the burning of flags is the day I put my uniform back on, go to the Steps of Capitol Hill and set fire to flags as an act of protest.

If one is not free to burn a flag we are not free as a people.

I bet there are no Israeli flags made in Germany.

I bet there are no French flags made in England.

I bet there are no Philippine flags made in Japan.

I bet there are no Polish flags made in Russia.

I bet there are no Indian flags made in England

I bet there are no Pakistani flags made in India.

You get my point.

Why, then, are there American flags made in China?
