Are kids like 6, ok to be wearing masks?
Heard tonight an imho view that masks were bad for kids to be wearing.

1. If I were still teaching and schools opened back up
I would insist on ALL students wearing masks as well as staff. I taught 1st grade for 15 years and was sick 90% of the time. They are germ incubators! If they want to return to school they must protect others.

2. I am the parent of three "children", the youngest of whom is now 34 years old. When I go out
shopping I wear a mask/bandana. I see parents with young children and even babies. Some are
masked and some are not. If I were taking young children out in public these days I WOULD PUT MASKS ON THEM, make sure they practiced distancing and washed their hands often. I want myself and my children to survive in general, and to survive this virus in particular. So far so good. Common sense tells me that the information you heard is bogus... |

3. I've been seeing parents struggling to keep masks on their children...
... and remembering my own children when they were that age. The were, to put it politely, "high energy."
I could hardly get them to keep their shoes on. It's possible I wouldn't have taken them out, shopping only when my wife was at home. My wife and I were extremely fortunate when our kids were small. We could arrange our work hours so one of us was always home. |
