(6,143 posts)Biden May run for a second term and even if he doesnt there is no guarantee that the sitting VP will run. Biden didnt 4 years ago and Cheney didnt. The only consideration is to win this year.

(5,491 posts)A two term president. I don't count Truman because he was president when he ran for president due to FDR's death. So being the VP is no guarantee.

(26,035 posts)...because 2024 would imply either that we lose this November, or that Biden steps down after one term. And, although I know of some who think Biden should pledge to only serve one term, I think that's a terrible idea. It would essentially make him an instant lame duck -- Republicans would know that all they need to do is block him for four years, and they'd be handed a golden chance to regain the White House without a Democratic incumbent.
