PREDICTIONS and the Republican party after their stomping on election day?

Hi everyone,

I'm a new poster here but have been reading the DU underground daily since Obama first ran for office.

I am fairly confident Obama wins a second term. Romney is just too much of a failed candidate and Ryan has been branded an untrustworthy liar that will say whatever he deems will give him an advantage in whatever situation. With all the infighting in the Romney campaign now it looks like they will double down and go even further right. Appealing to a small segment of angry old racist white men and some burly woman to boot! That doesn't leave alot of wiggle room for Romney. Obama is appealing to a much larger segment of this country and I feel that he will easily win. Yes the Gop will try and cheat with their id laws and tampered machines but they will not be able to overtake the massive turnout for Obama, at least in my opinion.

I think the Dems will hold the Senate slightly. I think Warren will beat Brown. I think there is a good chance that the dems may retake the house. If americans are not as dumb as some think, they can see its the repubs thats taking america down this bad course we find ourselves on. I think if the dems would bombast the nation with adds describing that its the repubs in congress that has held the country hostage by not allowing any positive improvements on our economy just so they can play partisan politics and hurt Obamas chances of re-election. They need to highlight Obamas jobs plan he laid forth that would have created millions of jobs and it was the derelict republican congress that voted it down just so it would hurt Obama. They didnt give a damn about this country, they are not patriots. The repubs act as they they hold the mantle of patriotism, ha they are the most unpatriotic lowest levels of Scum I have ever seen. They will hurt their country and its citizens just for political gain. Bastards, everyone of them! A pox on thier houses!

The Tea party needs to be destroyed! I hope this election is the final nail in their coffin, and the GP for that matter. When they are taking down watch america soar to prosperity!

Thank you for listening.

lose the election the Tea Party will say it was the wrong man in office. Nothing changes. Unless people across this country vote Tea Party out of office on the down ballots. That is the only way we will finally see a stake put into the Tea Party republicans and maybe even the religious right both who have taken over the party. The republican party is gone.

Either in Congress or by Constitutional Amendment. As long as the Teabaggers are funded they will not go away. Without the billionaires cash the Republican Party will wither.

In 2006 and 2008, House seats were continually shifting their ratings week after week in favor of the Democrats. I'm seeing some marginal movement, but not enough to get us net +25.

They're already going off the deep end. The republicans and libertarians in my personal life are becoming angrier and more vocal- also more gun graphics, cussing, name calling and just hateful posts on my FB news stream. I've gotten a really ugly picture of some family and friends this last week.

I've been picking that up as well on the conservative forum I frequent.

I wish I could remember the article better, but I read something a while back that the growth of radical Islam is a death reaction to the loss of prominince or influence of the Islamic world as a whole. The same sort of analysis feeds into the idea that the growth of the radical section of the republican party is a death reaction to the republican party losing influence. I sure hope Obama wins this election. 2016 is going to be a very interesting year for the republicans.

There has been several other threads on this forum recently offering better insight than I can offer, but the changing minority demographic alone will force the republicans to need to adopt some progressive views. Minorities, for the most part vote more progressive. As the white majority of this country switches to a minority (which is supposed to happen by 2042), the politics will invariably change.

starting with election night after Obama is declared the winner. The tea party will challenge elections across the nation, even if there's a significant margin of victory. Remember, they think Obama is literally the end of the world, and they'll fight tooth and nail to exploit every avenue to defeat him. Florida in 2000 will look like a minor glitch. When all of those efforts fail because... it's gonna be clear Obama won fair and square, I predict riots in the short term, more talk of secession with some states even going so far as to put it before their representatives. Maybe one or two will actually go the full distance. In the house, unless we take it back, impeachment proceedings will begin within the first year.

These people are rabid crazy, stirred up by all of the hatemongers they hold in such high regard to a lathered rage and, frankly, there's no telling what they will do. Really, our only hope is that they're lazy, because if they mobilize, there will be violence. I don't think I'm seeing a second civil war here, but I do think there will be bloodshed on US soil.

I really hope I'm wrong. But I don't think I am

- and I think that highly likely - there is going to be total civil war in the Repig party. They have a serious inbuilt problem, particularly after the last few years: the plutocrats have the money but the lunatics have the numbers.

The Reagan-era shotgun marriage of these two factions has come undone principally because more and crazier lunatics had to be accommodated as time went on. Palin let the crazies out of the attic and now the barbarians are picking their noses in the Colosseum, pooping in the corners and peeing on the walls and no one knows how to get rid of them. They've sacked Rome but have no idea what to do with it.

The ensuing bloodbath should be great fun for DUers to watch.

Happens with every party. Mainstream Republicans will grow tired of the lunatics and force them out. What they need is an unapologetic moderate who can communicate and doesn't give a shit about the fundies, the teabaggers, racists, etc. A Republican with balls, which are in short supply. I can't see them going much farther with a bunch of obstructionists whose primary support comes from corporations and religious nuts. They need to appeal ti middle class and minority voters.

Just like the Democrats went through some lean years before they got their shit together, now it's their turn.

They'll retool, reobstruct, and generally get up to their old antics. This election will be a shock to them, but not a learning experience. These aren't the sorts of people who change their minds or shrink from a fight that's going badly. With control of the House, and maybe of the Senate, they'll be emboldened and ornery.
