A coworker who is a tremendous hugely trump cultist, is personally effected by the Covid 19 pandemic.
This person repeats the trump propaganda daily and flip flop as he does. They were also in completely in denial that Covid exists, claiming its a Democratic Hoax and all the rhetoric.
We were notified today that one of their family members who lives in the home has Tested positive for Covid.
We will have to watch and see how this plays out when they return to work.

(15,028 posts)On edit, I don't see that specific information about the affected individual is required or permitted, but informing co-workers of which of their compatriots could be infected seems a necessity if tracing was to be effective.

(1,378 posts)It doesnt pertain to the general public.
Although each individual workplace may have its own rules HIPAA does not pertain to non healthcare disclosure.
For example, if an employee of a workplace is pregnant, and going out on leave, its not illegal for a workplace to disclose that. Unless, of course, the employs a patient of the workplace, (OB/GYN employee)
If someone I know sees me in the grocery store, and tells me she has cancer I can go home and tell my husband. If, on the other hand, I work at the hospital, and she comes in for treatment of said cancer I could be prosecuted if I went home and told my husband.

(569 posts)A member of my family is similar: fully indoctrinated cult member, etc. This person lost a friend of about 40 years to the virus early on -- one of only six deaths in our semi-rural county -- and is STILL in denial about the seriousness of the situation. It's baffling.
