None of this even pretends to make sense anymore

President Trump tells CBN that President Obama committed “treason” and says he’s looking forward to Justice Department inquiries into the Obama administration. “Let’s see what they come up with.” Quick. Look. Over there. Lets talk about Obama and nonsense. Lets not talk about how the economy is tanked, the streets are full of zommers protesting injustice, Barr is about to be investigated by Congress for yuge abuse of power, 40 million unemployed, oh and 120k dead and a pandemic running wild in the red wall of the south. Lets talk about the last President committing treason for some made up bollocks. In some ways this is funny because it is so absurd. But, truly, other than the most damned of the cultist being distracted by this, at this point in the Trump horror show does he really think that this will gain traction? It may distract as an amusing aside for a hot minute, but after that people are living through the chaos of 2020, and spinning and gaslighting and trying to distract the electorate is not going to work. Not right now when people are hurting as much as they are. He is not even pretending to make sense at this point. It is insulting.

4. This is one crazy world.

I was born in 1937 and thought I had seen just about everything, but I struggle to wrap my head around the current reality.

My curiosity compels me to continue reading and watching the news. I wonder what kind of lives my grandchildren will have. My great grandson was born during Covid. How can I help them navigate where no man has gone before?

One thing -- being isolated and stuck in my apartment, I have plenty of time to philosophize.

5. this can only happen because dems ignore talk radio, where limbaugh has been

leading a chorus of 1500 radio stations up to this point since inauguration day

every year he ramped it up and has been yelling some version of treason for months. they just keep up the repeated lying with no challenge from the left and pretty soon it's true to millions

it's a sad state of affairs that we let a few hundred coordinated liars on the radio get us to this point

12. It's not the talk radio...

It's the people that either buy into what they are saying, or were already there. Bottomline is tens of millions of people have heard what these hatemongers have to say and tuned out, but others would have been racists and haters without talk radio.

14. that's a BS rw talking point suggesting the rw radio monopoly is demand-driven

there will always be racists but electing racists who put kids in cages happens because democracy is not working, not because most americans want it to happen

it's ridiculous to suggest that 95% of people who would listen to talk radio for politics want that hate, lies, ignorance and global warming and covid denial.

they bought up hundreds of the loudest radio stations in the country, and hundreds of those were already endorsed by university and pro sports broadcasts/teams, turned them into a well-ccoordinated propaganda operation, and made sure no 'the other side' couldn't challenge or correct it in real time and would have to play catchup on any major issue the RW think tanks that feed the few national blowhards like limbaugh want.

no it is not the economy, money in politics, voter suppression, messaging framing, or any of the other symptoms of allowing 1500 coordinated unchallenged radio stations lie 15hrs a day to 50 mill a week.

in most parts of the country there are no free easy alternatives for politics while driving, working, or doing chores. 40 states with 80 senators - minimum.

money in politics? limbaugh on 600 radio stations kept all other blowhards and stations reinforcing the same messaging all day long. if trump/gop and putin and the kochs paid $1000/hr for that messaging, 1200 stations x 15hrs/day = $90MIL/week or about $4.7BIL/yr.

they put lying assholes limbaugh and hannity on every corner and stump in the country yelling all day and the dem and left leadership walked by with it's earbuds in for 30 years thinking 50% of the country wanted to hear that so there was nothing to be done. that is the biggest political mistake in history.

we let limbaugh scream "it's a hoax!" then "it's just the flu!" then "masks are for pussies!" for 5 months in coordination with the white house and we can't believe half the states are spiking now and this shit is still in the white house.

6. Why is Trump going on religious TV and appearing at mega churches?

Last I checked we had this thing called "separation of church and state" but I guess that doesn't apply anymore.

extremely insulting. Yet to me it seems that all this open corruption is mighty bold. His AG, the most corrupt I've seen, ever. His Senate wielding the largest rubber stamp ever in modern times, openly and without fear. Something is in the wind and it feels frigid and cruel.
