At the outset, "the rules as agreed upon by the candidates themselves" were read and then ignored for the rest of the evening.
Newt was lobbed a softball question that should have set up his much-ballyhooed and breathlessly awaited "attack" on Mitt. He drug his toe in the dirt, muttered "aw, shucks" and blamed the question on the New York Times.
Huntsman was actually invited to direct his remarks about 'we don't need a CEO president" to anyone on stage with him, but, alas, he also did the toe dragging routine and withdrew, saying "They can speak for themselves".
Ron Paul was, as usual, crazy.
Rick Perry was crazier than usual and promised to send US troops BACK into Iraq if elected.
Rick Santorum was his usual overbearing smarmy self and did his best to glow in soft, heavenly, blessed radiance while explaining that, "of course" Social Security benefits had to be reduced and the eligibility age raised.
And, Mitt, well---mostly, Mitt just smiled a lot. Except for when he wanted to give a speech unrelated to any question and after he actually told Georgie Stefanopolous that he wasn't going to answer the question asked. Then, despite that "agreed" one minute time limit, Mitt simply took several minutes to criticize virtually everything that has happened since Barack Obama was elected.
To his credit, Georgie later announced a commercial break without even asking Mitt if it was OK.
The end.
