Trump surrendered today.

The New York Times issued the coup de grace last night with their story reporting that Trump learned no later than March that the Russians had placed a bounty on the heads of US and coalition forces in Afghanistan and that Trump not only failed to apply any sanctions but thereafter still suggested admitting Russia to the G-7 conferences.

Got it-the premier US newspaper, the Old Gray Lady openly accused Trump of treason and cowardice in the face of the enemy and his response was silence and a golf outing!

I know crazed shithouse rats-when threatened they attack. If "The Donald" thought there was a one in a million chance of survival he would either be out raging and lying and projecting or at least locked himself and his unter-rats in the bunker to plot the final overthrow of democracy. Instead it seems he has accepted his political death and moved on to his imagined afterlife of endless golf and McDonalds meals.

Leave the moron to his bittersweet loser dreams and imagined victimhood and let him quietly drift through his lamest of ducks wrap up. And never mention the largest series of corruption investigations in US History that will surely follow. Shhh, it's going to be a surprise!

Russia owns all of Trump's golf courses since they financed them. We won't find out about all that until after the election though. Putin isn't one to let people out of their obligations easily. I think he'll make Trump pay, and pay, and pay for his transgressions. Much more so than any republican in Congress, that's for sure.

This piece of shit needs a day of reckoning, and soon. That obviously won't happen with Trump, so what is Biden prepared to do?

I think we should end relations with Russia and encourage other NATO members to follow suit. Putin wants to reignite the Cold War, let's grant him his wish.

The United States has always been a loose federation of rival regional subcultures. While it's led to a lot of ill, we've found ways past it in times where external threats emerged to alter our perspective. Since the Cold War ended, we've lacked that unifying threat and the result has been polarization and fracturing to an extent we haven't seen since the mid-19th century.

I don't have any warm remembrances of the Cold War's existential dread, but we badly need something to patch this country together again.

We believed perestroika and glasnost. Our leaders thought capitalism had won. The Berlin Wall fell. Wasn't that the end?

They sure should have known better. The Iron Curtain was an uneasy peace. We demanded democracy. Stalin insisted on choosing the candidates and elections were not fair. We insisted on capitalism and banking that fed profits to corporations. Soviets wanted profits for the state.

They never forgave us. Make Russia Great Again? Like Tsarist Russia, 1910. So they're after us now. We should have expected it.

I think Biden will be firm but start slowly. We have a lot of domestic housekeeping to do, politically and economically. We're running on Fed money. A healthy economy runs on innovation and job creation. We've been lagging for a long time. But I always want to know - what is there to invent? We're drowning in materialism. The fountain of youth is about the only frontier to conquer.

the 'source' of this story is the NY Times. There's a reason he's attacked them so VOCIFEROUSLY over the last three years. It's to completely discredit them with his cult followers, and by god it works. Never seen anything like it. I could be wrong, but they will march out the usual suspects for the Sunday morning news shows and deny, lie, obfuscate, and gas light until the cows come home. Schlapp, Miller, Conway, Navarro....and a few more parasites will defend this POS to the death. That 40% is rock solid. While it's not enough to win the election, it damn well is enough to continue making him millions after he's out of office and also really cause problems for Biden and the Dems.

These dolts aren't going away any time soon, sadly. I live in a red part of Michigan (near Grand Rapids, MI) near where Betsy DeVos lives and the signs, flags, support and craziness are off the HOOK for MFer 45. Never seen anything like it before or since. I hope he loses in Nov., gets investigated and has a crippling stroke or Covid19 and dies in disgrace. Hopefully, no other former American Prez will attend the funeral. I know Biden, Obama and Clinton wouldn't. Bush? Maybe, cuz deep down he's deplorable too. I feel dirty to hate someone this much, but after today especially....he's more than earned it.

I feel the same way you do about it. It's not going to be paradise just because Biden might end up getting in, in spite of having to fight the republican party, a well-padded extreme right wing justice, AND russia.

We have a battle ahead of us, but we won't stop until we get the last one of those buggers.

This is a stink you just can't remove. Even if Donnie steps down, Nikki Haley, Pence or anyone else are still irreparably tainted. It will be a center piece of every senate and congressional election this year. Moscow Mitch can't escape it. Susan Collins had her chance to do something about this, but failed and will be blamed. It will haunt what's left of the Rethuglican party for decades. It's that fucking bad. And worse is still to come from upcoming investigations that will drag on for years. I think this will go down as the greatest political disaster in American history. A party, at the pinnacle of its power, destroyed itself through breath taking stupidity. In 2150, high school kids will read about this and wonder what the fuck was wrong with these people.
