(36,838 posts)Trump just thanked people with Trump signs yelling "White Power!" If there was ever doubt about his racist agenda, he's making it clear.
Thank you to the great people of The Villages. The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!! twitter.com/davenewworld_2

(58,785 posts)of retired people with enough disposable income to go live where they damned wish. And with 30,000 retired residents and a very active local Democratic Party, no doubt some joined the big Orlando and/or Tampa marches, others rebelled with maskless BBQs and dancing in the back yard, and the other 29,750 or so stayed home.
Guessing some probably are feeling pretty crabby, though, because they're not off touring some cooler part of the world this summer.

(6,397 posts)I get it, snark culture. But really, think before posting kind of moment. There was zero need for that - especially since you have a bunch of residents there fighting for the same things we are.

(58,785 posts)while riding, of course, but what about the protesters? By far most older folk where we live, maybe 30 minutes away, wear masks, apparently both cons and libs, and most don't go out much at all.
I'm guessing the anti-Republican/BLM protesters who stationed themselves in one area were social distancing until a couple of them got carried away and one especially started behaving very badly.
Btw, The Villages has something like 30,000 residents.

(58,785 posts)As expected. That "village" with the 3 or 4 cases reported is only one of many.

(14,854 posts)They tell me the stores are always packed (probably because the rec centers are still closed, so there's nothing else to do but shop) and that lots of the old people refuse to wear masks, or they wear them incorrectly on purpose, to be passive-aggressive. My parents assure me they wear masks whenever they're inside a place, but they also gripe about how much they hate it. Fortunately, they're not religious and they don't drink much, so they don't hang out in churches or bars. Even so, my father gets antsy hanging around the house, so they go out just about every day to run some bullshit errand or another that they don't really need to do.
You're wrong about the population of The Villages. It was about 115,000 in 2017 according to The Villages FAQ, and it's probably more like 125,000 now.

(58,785 posts)I read about the villages sometime ago. But hits the point with a much bigger hammer.
Your poor dad. And mom!
We stay comfortable with our usual enjoyments, but even Im getting a little antsy. Were taking a little drive today up to a Lonely lake, and Im going to look for more trips we can take on roads less traveled. There are a lot of little historic and natural sites we havent seen. Weve got a fishing rod and a book and a chair for me and a fan.

(42,298 posts)with the Democratic Women's Club of The Villages. They are very politically active, tho outnumbered. I'm glad to see the sane people there aren't taking any crap from the cultists.
