Update: On racist joke told about Michelle Obama at rodeo.

It seems the outrage that poured out about that joke has hit home. There are some corrections in the original thread and OP posted here:http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=1356448 We were blaming the wrong guy Ed Kutz.

It seems it was an out of towner from Barstow, a rodeo clown that told the joke bantering with the MC, by the name of Mike Hayhurst. It's been all over the news so there is no reason not to say his name. Here is an updated story.

To give the citizens of Creston their due, they were the first to object to this joke even before it became national. Oh, the clown is in the hospital. Evidently he was injured in the rodeo according to the local news that just aired.

or send any email to that announcer. Stuff changes and the truth often comes out differently than in the first breathless stories.

Now we know who actually said it. I'm glad I didn't contact the person who was originally blamed. I did contact the board of directors of the Rodeo, though. It's their deal, whoever said it.

7. The announcer was part of the banter and he didn't tell the clown he was out of order

from what I can tell tell from the reports. I did email. I was polite and I don't think it was a wrong thing to do. I never got an answer, but I didn't expect to. His email was probably overwhelmed. There is no need to scold the clown. He has already been informed many times over.
