Guess who got his first intel briefing yesterday? Good old Mitt Romney!

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/249973-romney-receives-first-intelligence-briefing

Mitt Romney received his first intelligence briefing Monday during a campaign stop in Los Angeles.

The regular intelligence briefings are customarily given to major-party presidential candidates after they secure the nomination to ease the transition if they go on to win the White House.

The Republican nominee met with members of the intelligence community for around two hours at a federal building in the city, according to the Associated Press.

It will be interesting to see how and if Romney's knuckleheadness continues after yesterday's cup of "Shut The Fuck Up, Real Lives Are At Stake" goes down.

Romney, despite being a terrible candidate, and despite having positions -- well, those change every five minutes, so no need to go there -- is still the candidate of one of the two major political parties in this country and, like it or not, he has the support of tens of millions of people. Based on that, he "deserves" to be briefed. Think about how you would feel if somewhere down the road (and it can't be assumed it could never happen), the Democrats have a candidate that the other side doesn't respect (or wait, we don't have to look down the road, we could look back four years) and they argued that the Democrat shouldn't get the briefings that have become standard in presidential contests.

Its part of the routine. We need to worry less about Romney getting treated like every other candidate and keep our eyes focused on winning this, because anyone who thinks its already over is mistaken. A lot can and still might happen both good and bad for our side.
