Cops: Sanford man beat girlfriend with dog

A Sanford man was jailed after he allegedly used his girlfriend's small dog to beat her during a domestic dispute last week, police said.

Michael Wayne Jones, 42, was charged with domestic violence battery by strangulation, criminal mischief and tormenting an animal in the Aug. 13 attack.

According to a police report, Jones became angry when his live-in girlfriend came home with her daughter and one of them tried to smoke crack cocaine.

The victim told investigators Jones "freaked out" and said he was going to kill her dog.

and I don't mean the poor dog. I hope the dog is okay.

but a dog doesn't seem like a deadly weapon. OMG. I mean, how much harm can you do to someone hitting them with a dog? A dog is soft and not sharp, overall.

Of course I also recognize that harm to the dog too.
