Speaking of dangerous epidemics,

what about the epidemic of political cowardice that is currently raging through the GOP leadership?

They know that Trump is incompetent.

They know that Trump is nearly insane.

They know that Trump is selling out the country to Putin.

They know that Trump is stealing from the taxpayers.

And yet, knowing all of that, and having inside information about these things as well, 99.999% of GOP politicians are terrified of telling the truth to their voters.

2. True. All it would take is for one, than another, to start speaking the truth.

Not only will they get a primary opponent and possibly lose to that opponent but by saying the truth they will be out of the running for any lucrative lobbying or right wing think tank jobs.

It's a double-whammy situation.

And do not need to worry about that particular hurdle.

But I think the "post governmental" jobs might be in jeopardy.

I really appreciate what the Lincoln Project, George Will and others from the Republican side have done and said to show the farce that is Trump and Trumpism. What I think they are sadly missing is that someone, some group, needs to reconstitute something that looks like a sane Republican Party with planks for a platform that has some basis in workable civil discourse and attends to the true needs of the country. We will always have the pendulum swinging from left to right and back and whether two or more parties that will just probably continue but the politics of that should be rooted in the interests of the populace not the cult of one person and whackadoodle conspiracy theories.

and the GOP has finally attained most of its goals. One more election, and it's all theirs. A government of white, mostly men, of service to those who matter. Just like it's supposed to be.
