General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWill Romney even show up to the debates? What if he doesn't like a question given to him?
Will we see a candidate actually walk off the debate set (Has that really ever happened or is it just a hollywood thing?)
Does he just quietly fold up his campaign now or do the GOP drag him to the end?
After seeing Mitt's Presser last night one has to wonder what he will do if forced to defend himself again.
He looked like he wanted to kill someone.

(18,048 posts)That seems to be his MO. No apologies, remember?
He gives meat to his base and figures he does not need anyone else. He said so in his video. Throw in the people losing their vote cause of the laws, a few independents...
he thinks that is all he needs.
He just wants to get out his base, fuck the rest of y'all.

(13,462 posts)He already said he'd do a "Palin" on questions he doesn't like.

(15,682 posts)I haven't heard anything about it.
When did he say he'd do a "Palin". Do you have a link?
Thanks!

(5,842 posts)Palin was able to get away with it because it was the VP debate. Also, I'm not sure a candidate ever deliberately dodged debate questions as blatantly as she did prior to 2008 and I'm not quite sure the moderator knew how to deal with it.
There are three POTUS debates with each one pretty much focusing on a particular area of relevance. Further, I would think at least one (perhaps two) of the events will do the questions from the audience type of thing (live or pre-submitted). If Romney thinks he can just avoid specific questions that were submitted by voters under the theory that the only thing people care about is the economy he's going to come off as an arrogant jackass.
If I were Romney I'd be more concerned about the Republicans in the crowd acting like the yahoos who were in the audience during the primary debates. Nothing impresses independent voters more than people roaring their approval about policies that screw over their fellow countrymen.

(34,845 posts)Use Romney's own words against him -how he won't release his tax returns because his opponents might find something in them. That alone -if the Romney-bot can't utterly deflect it- will be devastating.

(982 posts)but with this media, the questions will be 'what is it like to be so wonderful'...'what did you do to be so awesome and rich when everyone else is a bunch of losers'
If actually put on the spot with facts they don't like, a Republican need only say 'I reject that' and the media will move on to something else like 'what's your favorite color'

(2,940 posts)Especially after last night's presser. He did look like he wanted to kill someone; I wouldn't put it past him to try (and fail) to physically intimidate the President, or use some racial slur, or just refuse to stop talking when the rules dictate he should. Or maybe he'll just get pissy and leave the stage halfway through and let Obama debate an empty chair.
