Family member tested positive last week.
Just need to vent a bit.
This is flat out tearing me up. My wife is taking this better than I am.
Older relative in Georgia but not Atlanta. They are in the ER awaiting getting admitted because the hospital is swamped. EMT kept their phone worried the chaos at the hospital would result in them loosing the phone. Madness. We are 9 hours away but we do have family there.
Sorry. Trying to be very nonspecific. Its bad.

(182,764 posts)This person went and came back. Retirement home. Top flight. Then they went back and I know that ....whew...many die alone. Absolutely ripped up about this. Walk outside regularly to keep my crying private from my wife and child. Im supposed to be strong. Thats what Ive been told my whole life.

And we are all here for you. And we will all be pulling for your family member to get through this and to recover fully and completely.

The idea that men must not cry, must "be strong" Is, to my mind, incredibly destructive. Tears are cathartic, they show that we care.
Wishing all the best for your family

So far, I only know one person who got Covid.
She was a player at my bridge club, and she
died of it because her health was already
compromised. Such a lovely person, too.
And eeks, EMS was in the driveway of my
apt complex this morning. I saw it after my
walk, and I was still wearing my mask. I
wear a mask everytime I leave my place now.
