Obama talks with his mouth full.
I'm transcribing portions of a lunch with Obama right now. It's through a service that splits everything up into pieces, so I'm only doing part of it and not sure who he's talking to, but I think they're grassroots organizers.
It's quite interesting stuff. Some of it is very humanizing. Some of it makes him seem very much a progressive, very much on our side (he refers to the amount of money required for an election "obscene"
, and some of it I find quite frustrating (the eternal struggle for bipartisanship, unquestioningly accepting a new reality where 60 votes are required to pass bills in the Senate, focusing too much on past achievements and not enough on a plan for the future, in my opinion).
Some of it is a bit revealing. For example, he says he doesn't believe approval ratings polls reflect on his performance, just on the personal situation of the person being polled (whether or not they're gainfully employed, essentially). On edit: And he says they "did everything right" in response to the BP oil spill, I think some might find that to be a bold statement.
