I just witness a NEW Trump AD.
It suggests the Joe Biden wants to Defund the Police.
If I recall correctly, I thought Biden had suggested that He Doesn't want to Defund the Police.
The AD states that if the Police is defunded it would take five days for them to answer your call,
which reminded me of a line from the movie "Boyz in the Hood".
The Father (Fishburne) asks why it takes days for the police to answer their calls.
I was shocked at what this Ad was trying to do.
The fear tactics might work with his base., but it is SICK and SAD

(68,352 posts)looks like they were made for a high school student body election. They are terrible.
Trumps ads in 2016 were bad too, the difference is in 2016 the media was happy to run wall to wall negative coverage of Clinton and now they are running it against Trump.

(5,092 posts)Which is a real problem in some poor neighborhoods as black people have been talking about for years, just as you mentioned the line from Boyz in the Hood. Highlighting the UNDERPOLICING and the lack of help when its needed in those communities, for all the talk about how much the police is doing.
As a victim of crime myself - robbery. The perpetrators were never caught. When I attempted to follow up, it was clear the police really had no interest. It was like, oh you were not shot or killed so no big deal, carry on.
I'm sure it will scare up his elderly and vulnerable base though.

(22,084 posts)and loathing. The ads are poorly conceived and produced. They have nothing to work with. Trump has nothing positive to offer. Its old and tired.

(3,452 posts)The public's capacity for fear is pretty well saturated by the coronavirus pandemic, and everybody outside il Doofus' base base puts the blame for that one (at least in the sense of it being an ongoing crisis with no end in sight, instead of being successfully countered like most other First World nations) squarely on his empty orange head.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)Not terribly persuasive and offers nothing but fear and hatred. Barely mentions Needy Amin except for the obligatory "I approve this message" tag at the end.
Curious, though, how Democratic candidates are always told they need to reach out to people who won't vote for them. Not much outreach to any but the dyed-in-the-wool Trump voters.

(3,473 posts)They keep doing the same crap to appeal to the 40% that still support him. It's not enough to win.

(843 posts)In the movie "Boyz in the Hood", Fishburne played the dad. Dr Vegas was referencing the movie, not the ad. Great movie as I recall.

(778 posts)In Florida, too and I have seen it so often it is really starting to disgust me. Is he really so ignorant to believe that defunding the police actually means closing down police departments? Does he really believe that is anyone's goal? Or is he just playing stupid? We already know that many in his base don't understand the phrase.

(295,913 posts)said he did NOT want to "defund police".
They have to LIE.. All we have to do is tell the truth.

It is painful to see the lies promoted.

(7,392 posts)That Trump would ignore what he actually said and instead go with a scare tactic is a given. And we have Reagan to thank for this as he abolished the fairness doctrine.

(53,061 posts)You are talking about his ad.
You are not talking about Covid 19 infection explosion
You are not talking about Russian Bounties on American soldiers
You are not talking about a judge ordering children released from jails
You are not talking about the recent study if Flint children showing pervasive damage from the water.
You are talking about what he wants you to talk about. Stop taking the bait, when the commercials come up, when he is on the TV mute it.
Stop playing his game

(16,138 posts)The only shock is just how little his supporters care about anything other than their cult leader.
How much crap they will eat from the table trump and McConnell set.
How unpatriotic, easily duped, and lacking in shame they are.
Thats still a little shocking.

(9,065 posts)including that stupid ad about the police not coming.... They are aimed at people like my 90+ year old neighbors, who will vote by mail and will believe what they see in those ads.
