1. I wonder about ground operations. Dems won't do door to door canvassing because of covid

Are they planning on doing that?

2. Maybe it's more call centers, signs and pamphlets.

Where you don't have to necessarily be in the same space with others or knocking on doors.

Just a guess though - I'd LOVE to volunteer with them if was safe to do so.

4. It could be pretty amazing they will probably only be calling republicans

and they probably have a better chance of getting through to them.

5. That's an interesting observation.

I hadn't thought of that - I suppose they'll have to recruit callers who are also Never Trumpers who'd be willing to have discussions with fellow Republicans.

6. Honestly, I don't appreciate people knocking on my door during this pandemic.

I don't care what they want.

7. What?

I'm wondering what these people are up to, their long term goals. We need a rational, functional opposition party to make this system work. After the democrats sweep the elections, and I believe they will, there is going to be big changes in the GOP.

16. Why wonder, when that is what they've said they want. A non batshit

crazy conservative party. However, that will mean marginalising the batshit crazies, and moving their political center to the relative left from where they are now. That of course will mean a longer term battle for those on the right of the Democratic Party. This is a better battle for democracy.

8. Here's their mission statement

Copied this from the Lincoln project website:

OUR MISSION
Defeat President Trump and Trumpism
at the ballot box.
We do not undertake this task lightly nor from ideological preference. Our many policy differences with national Democrats remain. However, the priority for all patriotic Americans must be a shared fidelity to the Constitution and a commitment to defeat those candidates who have abandoned their constitutional oaths, regardless of party. Electing Democrats who support the Constitution over Republicans who do not is a worthy effort.

I would say that in any group you find a mix of people. I tend to believe that all repugs are evil, but know that a small portion are not. They have ideological differences that I don't approve of, but this small portion wants to restore the party to something they can be proud of; they know he's a Russian asset, a traitor, and want him and his cult 45 members gone.

I wish them luck, and am grateful they are really attacking the problem (45 and his cult).

15. The once-mocked 'Never Trump' movement becomes a sudden campaign force

This makes me smile

Groups such as the Lincoln Project and Republican Voters Against Trump — which is focused on first-person testimonials like Josh’s — emphasize guerrilla tactics and scathing ads as they troll the president. The movement seeks to build a national political operation to oust both the president and his supporters in Congress, with a particular emphasis on persuading white suburban voters who consider themselves true Republicans to break from the president, according to interviews with more than a dozen anti-Trump advisers and allies who are involved in the planning, some of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private discussions.

Advisers to the Lincoln Project, which they say has about 30 employees and raised $16.8 million this quarter, will soon expand to include ground operations. They are coordinating over 2,500 volunteers in Michigan and plan to next target Republican Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Joni Ernst (Iowa), Thom Tillis (N.C.) and Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), who they see as vulnerable after his challenger, Jaime Harrison (D), pulled in a staggering $13.9 million since April.

But most of the project’s efforts so far have been centered squarely on Trump — evidenced by their surgical strike ads airing on Fox News in Washington, which are aimed not at persuading disaffected Republicans but simply at needling the president.

One 45-second spot focuses on Trump’s health, featuring footage of the president walking haltingly down a ramp at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, with a narrator warning, “Something’s wrong with Donald Trump. He’s shaky, weak, trouble speaking, trouble walking.”
