Grocers: No Mask... No Food!

Most grocery chains, across the country are taking control of the pandemic, without Trump's approval.
They, as businesses, are setting rules that require customers to wear masks when shopping.
In WIsconsin, it goes into effect Mon July 20th and the GOP controlled State Supreme Court can do nothing about it, as they did by ending the stay at home order there.
Many national chains are doing the same, and local businesses are following the lead.

This means no Trumpies can parade the canned goods aisles, without a mask.
This means they get no food if they do not wear a mask ( assuming they figure out how to even get into the store unmasked).

I don't think the Trumpies are going to like mail order food. Most Trumpies avoid buying online as that is seen as a socialist act.

Anyone want to order some ice cream or fresh seafood from Amazon and see what it looks like on delivery?

Any business can refuse service to anyone, and this step, shows business is finally taking logic into account.
Trump cannot do anything about it, the State GOPs' cannot do anything about it.

Now, it's time to pressure every business, you know, to do the same; hardware stores, gas stations, any retailer, any service provider.

...mandate that you may not enter without a mask on at all times.

Period.

Stores have that right and the right to remove and prohibit you from entering. Just like without shoes or a shirt.

These are the ways that we can protect the public.

And if some right wing place like Hobby Lobby says they won’t require - then consumers who care about the public health and safety of themselves and others will let them know they won’t shop there.

That is the problem with these mandates. The employees should not be used as the enforcers of the mandates. I don't want to be attacked and I sure as hell don't want my employees attacked. About 90 percent of my customers wear them, so my store is better off than some. But still...

Earlier this week. I had to go find some food yesterday and I only saw one adult in one of the stores without one on and one older guy with it below his nose at the checkout. It got kind of busy while I was in there but most everyone was trying to keep their distance. First time I've seen this much compliance/effort.

...is part of the solution.
Yes, they might not like the ice cream being pudding, but it means they DIDN'T GO TO THE STORE!
That's a good thing.
Second, if they do this, we don't have to hear whining about freedumb & hoaxes, tantrums on Twitter are gone, and they aren't possible spreaders.
Let them order everything online!
They're a distinct minority. The stores will survive.
Whatever they do is ok by me. As long as they're not in stores with no mask.

ask harley-davidson

he tells his wall street buddies ahead of time so they can short the stock or dump it. and he will find a store that doesn't require masks and pump their stock

he most certainly can and will do something about this

How strange it is to see businesses large and small rejecting what has become republican orthodoxy. They are still acting in their naked self interests as always, but the bottom line requires them to treat the pandemic as real, and if forced to take sides on racial issues, they'll take the side with the most people, which is the side that is inclusive to all races.

fresh food market goods (yes ice cream too, lolol) right to your door, and often, due to e-commerce rebates, it is less expensive that going out and grabbing it at the store ourselves.

I guess if the Rump humpers live in a small area they are fucked, but I have no real idea. Too bad, so sad. Fuck 'em. Let the plonkers eat dirt for all I care.

We have been having food delivered here in Stockholm and before that in London for ages. In LA we stayed at my father's and he bought (well, had delivered mostly, lolol) all the groceries usually, but we did go to the stores ourselves at times. There were Ralph's, and Trader Joes (miss that a little) and Whole Foods very near us. For sure in London as we stopped at the old school markets a tonne, Borough, Spitalfields, Covent Garden, Southbank, HG Walter for meat, etc etc.

I'm not convinced that Trumpies would trust a 20-something driver. Those kids could easily tamper with the food.
What about the person in the store, filling the order, they could tamper with everything!

Let's get conspiracy nonsense with that one? Food is a daily, critical compenent of life.
Only a true idiot would risk that... over something like wearing a mask ( a non-life threatening action).

Sun Jul 19, 2020, 07:50 AM

..in my state there are many news reports of ppl being confronted about not wearing a mask and violence has followed. One maskless woman had her throat cut at the produce aisle of a grocer...the attacker has yet to be caught. Another man drew a gun and pointed it at another shopper who asked man to wear mask....again at a produce aisle! The cops were called and it took 5 cops to get his gun and take him away. He was on the floor fighting 5 cops.

I would never ever ever confront a person not wearing a mask. I just assume they are oppositional-defiant and have anger issues and issues with authority. I just stay away from them and i smile if they make eye contact. I dont know their story and frankly i dont want to!

I saw my first trump* mask the other day.. trump could have had so much free publicity if he advocated wearing TRUMP masks and could even sell them on his web site..but noooooooooo...hes only thinking how ugly he may look in one.

I blame local law 'enforcement' for a lot of this as all the Sheriffs in our small counties have said they will not enforce mask wearing. So no penalty for infecting others I guess.

With all of you that it is a wonderful step for businesses to make. Those are definitely the type of stores I will support. Since this is a new mandate, I don't want to burst any ones bubble, but my city has had a mask mandate for several weeks now. We still frequently see people inside without masks and others who have one side of it hanging around an ear. Several people barely have it on their nose and others have it way down on their chin. You can't fix stupid.

In this environment, the last thing you want is your retail outlet(s) identified as Covid-19 hot spots. You don't want contact tracing walking back numerous chains of infection right to your door. Not only is it the right thing to do, but becoming the store typhoid Mary shops in can be devastating in an already tough economy. You can lose a little business from pissed off magats, or you can lose a whole lot of business from people afraid to enter your doors. Pandering to one segment, that may have limited disposable income anyway, is just not worth the risk.

The Winn-Dixie grocery store that I have shopped at for 25 years just put out a notice that they would no longer be requiring masks. We sent an email saying that without masks we would find somewhere else to shop...permanently.

but most of the Houston area (Harris and Fort Bend counties) is on orders to wear masks in all public places. I've been to 2 restaurants and they require masks to enter and be seated. One even gave me a little squirt of hand sanitizer. Of course, the masks come off once the drinks and food are served.
