My Election Day plan:

Today I requested leave on November 3 & 4. The 4th is for me to rest up...I can stay up late the night of the 3rd drinking iced beer, watching the election returns come in. I can stay up late as I need to...that’s why you put ice in your beer. Mexican beer with lemon, over ice, will sooth your anxiety through the night without getting you drunk. I look forward to calling loved ones and crying joyfully over the results, gushing with outrageous relief and elation that we have saved Democracy, that America is not done, that justice will prevail and we can begin planning the restoration of our American dream—and I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout home ownership, n’kay?

November the 3rd is another story. I will vote early, so I won’t vote on the 3rd. Instead, I will fill my station wagon with folding chairs, easy to share food, bottled water, and hand sanitizer. I will stalk the polling places in this area, multiple counties, and I will do whatever I can to support voters in their bravery to exercise their right to vote. And I will take photos.

This what I can do. This is what I will do.

But keep in mind that we may not know who the winner is on November 3rd. With so many people voting by mail, it may take a while. Although, it may be such a blowout that there's no doubt that Joe will be #46!

put in for Nov 4, 5, 6. No matter what happens that week, things are going to get strange out there and I am either going to be off my head with joy or miserable depressed. Or in the case of recount or some other shenanigans, a nervous wreck.

Either way, I will be in no shape to concentrate on anything but the outcome of the election. I am hoping for the best, but not letting myself get too optimistic. The republicans are truly evil and will do anything to hold on to power.

I requested off the 3rd and 4th of November. I figure either way it goes, I will be hungover on the 4th.

I'm not a believer especially...but God willing, the nightmare will be over soon. The hangover will feel like a joy.

10. I envy attorneys their ability to serve particularly powerfully.

I volunteered with Election Protection for a couple of elections while they were still using amateur volunteers, stationed as an observer at GA polls, but what was really needed was more people with the training to respond like the wrath of legal God to the election attacks being reported everywhere. They were so busy in 2008 that I literally never got a call through the entire day to the attorneys whose assignment included my polling place, had to call violations in to a central number.

Good to know they, and you, are already on this and will be out in force over the next months.

I'd forgotten, but another DUer and I have plans to celebrate the election returns with our favorite Scotch. We didn't foresee it then, but that may stretch out a while. But I'll think of you.

president, and some other key races, are already effectively settled BEFORE by estimates of early voting results. Election day and continued counting would of course nevertheless be riveting as we waited to see just how much transfer of power was accomplished.

In the runup I'll once again no doubt be calling people to urge them to return their mail-in ballot, what to do if they're not received, where their polling place is, etc. Driving people to the polls is my favorite, but unfortunately not this year.
